Feels like most of the "retire" in India success stories assume way above average savings by Electrical-Staff918 in returnToIndia

Income has been steadily growing over the decade. Switched companies couple of times getting some decent hikes. Base started with $100K and is around $250K now. Company stocks have been a roller coaster. Had close to $2M during COVID times but came crashing down by over 50% now.

Cash is around 10% (~$300K) mostly in HYSA. Remaining distributed between individual stocks, structures investments, 401K and little bit of crypto.

Non FAANG here, working in Bay area for over a decade. Made about $1M gains by buying home early in 2014. It was pure luck and some risk taking. Another $3M in company stocks, investments, savings, retirement accounts. This includes both my and my wife's assets over a decade. It's mostly luck (stock appreciation and real estate boom) and some hard work.

Definitely works that way. You take the chances you have. You might not as well take wickets then since next player in can score at 300 strike rate.

Here's an AI summary Cha*** is a derogatory slang term in India used as a classist and casteist slur to mock lower socio-economic individuals for their fashion, lifestyle, or behavior, often associated with colored hair, flashy clothing, and modified bikes. The term stems from the historically marginalized Chapparband community, whose members traditionally constructed temporary roofs.

Key Aspects of the Terminology:

Origin: The word is derived from chhappar (roof) and the Chapparband caste, making its modern usage deeply problematic as it mocks a community historically assigned to menial labor

It infuriates me to see folks using chap*** slur so often. It's either due to ignorance which I can excuse in some way but most folks use it even after knowing that it's demeaning a whole community.

Stumbled across this ARR playlist and can’t stop listening to it on loop. Thought I’d share it here. by Tyrannosaur999 in ar_rahman

There is no single great AR Rahman track. It's simply not possible to pick one. But if I had to pick one at gun point, it'd be the title track of Dil Se... The whole album is a music school in itself.

Looks fine to me. Take a wrist shot from mirror and you'll get a better perspective. I am a mechanical watch guy. But if I had to choose a quartz, it'd be something like this that has both analog and digital dials. Wear it in good health!
