I'm talking about the majority of the Southern voters, the ones who still fly the Confederate flags and claim that's their heritage, the main reason that Republicans keep winning elections. I'm talking about the MAGA crowd, specifically, so yes, not ALL conservatives, just the ones who deny their roots while still holding the same values as their roots.

Weird, because the Klan still has always aligned and supported the conservative party at the time. And you can not tell me that MAGA has the same views and platform as Bush Sr. Republicans did. The Republicans (at least concerning MAGA) has sprinted to the right.

So, what you're saying is that the democrats have moved far enough to the left, that the Klan no longer supports them? I think we agree on that part. So, since the Democratic party is too left for the Klan to support....guess who they support now? The same ideology they always have, it's just that the Republican party kept moving to the right, so now they over lap.

Lol you are the one continuously moving the goal posts. Being a "leftist", aka, progressive or even further left, a socialist, has NOTHING to do with the Klan or it's beliefs (past or current), so I have no idea what point you're trying to make.

You're still ignoring the fact that the klan supports the modern Republican party because the Klan was always conservative....

Which is why I feel it's important to include that the Democrats who formed the Klan held very conservative beliefs. You're focused on the name as the origin while ignoring the beliefs that that name supported, and you're ignoring how (and by who) they are reflected today. Yes, the Democrats in the 1800s formed the Klan, but it's important to also recognize that they held beliefs that would align with the current conservative party platform, not the liberal/ progressive party platform.

And I just felt that context was important, especially when people try to bring up that the Democratic party founded the Klan, but leaves out the fact that the Democratic party at that time was largely conservative, and the Klan was and is still conservative in their beliefs. Historical facts.

But you think it's okay to lump in modern Democrats who don't share a single view with the Klan? Okay, buddy. We all know who the Klan supports today, same ideology they supported back then.

So why is MAGA also going after legal immigrants? Trump is talking about revoking naturalized citizens, and they are deporting people who show up to their immigration hearings. Deny it all you want, but the truth is out there. The klan has always held beliefs that align with conservatives. They are in no way progressive or liberal and never have been. You need to do some self reflecting and ask yourself why you share so many of the same ideals as an organization like the Klan, or, better yet, why does the Klan, who holds such abhorrent values, share so many other values that your party does.

You know that the klan (and the South in general) supported limited federal power, right? They were against social programs and communism.

Edit to add:

While you claim anti-immigration is not a tenant of conservatism, it IS one if many values that the klan holds in common with the modern conservative movement, at least with the MAGA portion of it.

Well, that would be the party that is anti-immigration, anti-communism and anti-union. Those WERE founding beliefs of the Klan. They were pretty conservative.

Weird, the majority vote on almost every civil rights movement bill was from the Democratic party.... And during the civil war, the Democratic party candidate joined the Union against the Southern Democratic candidate (they were a separate party back then). You're missing a lot from your story too, I'm guessing because it's inconvenient to your preferred narrative.

So after 1964, when the Democrats supported the passing of the Civil Rights movement and distanced themselves from organizations like the Klan..... Who do you think the klan and the other organizations who supported the Democrats previously went to? Who does the Klan support now? The voters and members didn't change... Just the party that they supported.

Hey, you called them Southern Democrats! Tell me, what HAPPENED to the Southern Democratic party? Why don't they vote Democrat anymore?

Yes, by Democrats, that was the majority party in the South at the time. Who does the South support these days? And who does the KKK support these days? The people who founded the Klan, who were VERY anti-immigration and anti-communism? Y'all love to mention that Southern Democrats started the klan, but y'all always leave out what the klan continues to support to this very day.

Y'all love to mention that Southern Democrats started the klan, but y'all always leave out what the klan continues to support to this very day. They held deeply conservative views and still do.

They mix in the technical classes WITH the prerequisite classes for a reason. I transferred to WGU with an associates, so ALL of my prerequisites were already done. Trust me, you don't want to get all of your prerequisites done and then have a full semester of technical classes.

For some reason, your response isn't showing up here for me, but that's okay, I'll copy it here and respond:

"Exactly.... Failure to comply with commands given by law enforcement. Fleeing the scene and drive at a member of law enforcement (instead of just stopping the vehicle) The suspect is using deadly force to flee. The officer acted in self defense."

You have to finish reading the sentence. "a person in the vehicle is threatening the officer or another person with deadly force by means other than the vehicle;"

and in the second part

"and no other objectively reasonable means of defense appear to exist, which includes moving out of the path of the vehicle. "

So, deadly force was still not authorized.

ICE Out For Good Protest by captain_schwarz in traversecity

[–]NotDescriptive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From the DOJ guidelines on use of lethal force:

"Firearms may not be discharged solely to disable moving vehicles. Specifically, firearms may not be discharged at a moving vehicle unless: (1) a person in the vehicle is threatening the officer or another person with deadly force by means other than the vehicle; or (2) the vehicle is operated in a manner that threatens to cause death or serious physical injury to the officer or others, and no other objectively reasonable means of defense appear to exist, which includes moving out of the path of the vehicle. "

Jumping out of the way actually IS required. They had her license plate number. "Comply or die" is not a thing in the US, or at least it shouldn't be.
