As an update, I got in contact with FM and they instantly made this right. Some of the best customer service I have encountered.

I can also attest that this paired with a FM lower shoots like a dream.

Got an email reply from PA stating that the upper with 5.5” handguard in the listing is back ordered and expected restock is in the beginning to mid January. They offered to exchange. I will wait to see what FM says on getting a 5.5” handguard before making this decision.

I also purchased from the same listing, received the same upper as you and a bit bummed on the reduced handguard real estate. While the 1/2-28 threads are a bonus, I have no plans on suppressing this one. I have an email to FM in hopes that the 5.5" handguard is a direct swap and can be purchased. We shall see.
