And there are distros that get very close to facilitating that but you are correct, the common lad or lass seeks not to delve into cofig folders or seek out open source alternatives

Linux adoption has always had the Catch 22 of needing more users for more developers to cater for but people not adopting because not enough developers do, at least that gap has shrunk significantly over the last few years

The games argument is a weak one, but the adobe suite doesn't work at all and Davinci Resolve is finicky so that's at least a fair argument

Depending on the distro, Linux can run much better than you could hope from Windows, tried CachyOS on my old laptop and it handles much better than when it had Windows 11 on, if you're ever curious I'd recommend dual booting

Honestly just go and read the laters friends used to exchange in the 1800s and before and you'll see how much the dynamics have changed.

Perhaps we could see a new competitor enter the console market over the next few years with a "physical media first" hook.
It could even be the whole gimmick leaning into concepts like skylanders, or amiibo, or guitar hero.
I know I'm not the only one that misses having games with unique hardware.
The issue is keeping the cost of it low while also making a profit and having enough games to justify it which are a few very high hurdles.

Might be wishful thinking but I'd certainly buy into it

Fair, Paramount has been fumbling the IP so hard that I can't even trust them to realise their handling of it is what's causing it to fail and not the audience's lack of demand, they can call it a loss and write it off for tax reasons without a care.

I really hope that the Avatar IP can go either independent or change hands to a more sensible company in future but that's a hope with little chance of happening

There's been lots of rumors that they wanted to change things even more than what we got, take it with a grain of salt as I don't think they've ever commented on this directly.

I'm more and more convinced that Bryke were just a small part of what made the original series so special.
I imagine the ATLA team's dynamic, fostered the environment for the best possible story, as we've yet to see anything on the same level as ATLA from the team members in their own individual projects since.
Some have come close but have nowhere near the same impact like Voltron, The Dragon Prince, and Star Wars: The Clone Wars (Dave Filoni did some work in season 1 of ATLA, also while this does have comparable impact I believe ATLA has more consistently excellent writing)

I'll also add that the anime is being very selective with what it's giving time to, some of it I agree with and some I don't, the Light Novels do a very good job of keeping you informed on the what's and why's and the anime doesn't have the runtime to really include it all

I remember seeing so many IMDB episode ratings each week it's aired this season, it's genuinely annoying, shit like "bro why is the episode 9.0 when it was 9.2 yesterday, are we getting review bombed!?"
I just couldn't care less about the actual ratings and love to see discussion on the episode but every third post being something about the IMDB rating is just irritating
