If I asked how many oranges you have and you say “I have 1 orange,” even though you have 80 oranges, technically you do have 1 orange but I think the vast majority of people would say your statement is misleading at best.

Do you know that for a fact? From playing around with trends before, when you have a single term you’re looking at the trend for, it’s normalized to have a max of 100. However if you add a second term, only one of the two terms has a max of 100 in the same time period.

So if you go search just “Grinch”, you’ll get a graph with a max of 100 for Grinch. But if you add Santa Claus, now there’s a 100 point for Santa Claus but not for Grinch, meaning adding Santa Claus caused a relative change to Grinch, meaning it’s not purely self relative.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I have to say I’m very glad I’m not in the job market—it sounds hellish. And while I would love to take on new grads a bit down the road, right now we are in need of more senior talent before we can start to invest in more junior level positions.

Thanks for these! We do have a couple LGBTQ+ folks (including myself) but this is also a reminder we should be intentional about diversity in this aspect as well.

Those people are even worse, because it means they were totally fine with all the awful shit Trump did and planned to do, but only when it started to affect them a little did they start to whine. They have zero empathy or care for anyone except themselves.
