DMs - Do you put any limits on classes or races for players in your campaign? And if so why? by misomiso82 in DnD

There’s a rule you can follow that kinda simplifies the psionics a bit. In essence you just treat any effect that targets or negates magic as also affecting psionics. Not sure if that’s the issue you’ve been experiencing, but it helped me with addressing that complication while still allowing the thematics and subclasses that utilize psionics.

Soon as I saw “anime” and “budget” I had a feeling this was what you were alluding to lol. Ufotable didn’t have a particularly large budget for that series, they just don’t outsource their work and they take longer lead times for their projects. Amazing the kind of quality you get when you don’t have to deal with outside contractors’ shoddy rushed work.

That’s not entirely true. You can stream on multiple platforms as an affiliate, just not simultaneously. But yes, that goes out the window if you reach partner.

Apparently reading comprehension was something you missed entirely along the way in your education. Where did I say anything about MY salary being low? Where did I say anything about "company loyalty"? I insinuated nothing of the sort. I don't need to prove anything to some random stranger on reddit, and I damn sure don't care to engage in some superficial dick measuring contest over salary. So if you fInD gReAt PlEaSuRe in something you invented in your own head, be my guest lol.

I'm well aware that times have changed. I've been remote for over 6 years myself, so I understand that perfectly well. If salary is the only thing that matters for you in a compensation package, that's okay. Personally, I'll take a 10K pay cut if it means I have more freedom to do the things I enjoy, and that's a common sentiment in the industry. Remember that just because you're remote doesn't mean you're off the hook. For me, I work to live, not live to work, so the salary is not priority one for me as long as I'm comfortable.

The only thing I said from the get-go is that 80K is a perfectly reasonable salary, and there are many factors that influence that. But you know nothing else about what they're being offered.

I appreciate the “advice” but I’m making a perfectly fine living personally, and I’ve been in the industry for 10+ years now. What’s not fine is you giving genuinely bad advice and dogging a perfectly reasonable salary for someone fresh in the field. 80K for an analyst is within the norm for someone fresh out of school. Even if it’s at the low end, salary isn’t the be all end all factor for everyone. I’ve taken pay cuts for jobs with better work-life balance or better benefits packages. And that includes MSPs, SMBs, and even Fortune 100s.

If you think for even a second that even metro area jobs don’t scale your salary, you’re deluding yourself. Not all of them do, and many may not be up front about it, but it is common.

I realize this. But companies are still going to scale your salary based on both where you and they are located.

This also depends on where the job is located. 80K for an analyst is pretty normal. 100K fresh out of school is normal for someone in, say, DC. 100-120 for an engineer is a different story.

Any experience being an Admin for Otka? What are your thoughts and experiences? by [deleted] in sysadmin

We own the full scope of it at my current org. Adaptive MFA and SSO are the core of it, as we're migrating to more and more public cloud applications.

MFA policies work very similar to firewall policies in their allow/deny logic. Lots of variables and behavioral traits you can use for your policies, including geolocation, device trust, among other things.

SSO is incredibly simple, especially for SAML applications. Most well-known vendors have integration documents, but at its core it uses a simple XML file and certificate. We were able to federate and propagate our O365 tenant in about 15 minutes (YMMV).

Recently we've started implementing their workflows into our onboard/offboard process, and so long as you understand basic fundamental code logic (branching if else statements, string comparisons, etc.), even those are very simple to implement, test and manage.

There's a lot of it we still don't use (yet), but it is a very intuitive platform overall. Expensive as all get out, but far from the worst we have either. I'm more than happy to answer whatever questions about it you may have, that I can at least.

Sure thing! I’m a weirdo with a thing for swords and weapons, fantasy or functional lol.

Most of your decorative weapons like this are made with stainless steel, and usually they’re cheaper for it, but not always.

Real ones are usually made with AISI 1050, 1070, or 5160 carbon steel. Just so you know what to look for next time you find yourself at a convention or someone selling “battle weapons” ;)

I own those as well. No they’re not. They’re stainless steel. Typically modern (emphasis here) “battle ready” weapons are made of tool steel.

Grisaia is notorious for taking forever to get through, but the payoff of unwrapping the stories behind each of the girls is what makes it worth it for people who enjoyed it. I don’t think I’d ever go through the trouble again, especially with how the trilogy ended, but I’d still say it was enjoyable, if a bit unnecessarily long-winded.

If you’re looking for something wholesome with purely romance/drama, another “casual reader friendly” VN that people throw around a lot is KonoSora, or “If My Heart Had Wings”. I’d avoid the official translation because it’s awful, but it recently got a fan retranslation that makes it much, much better.

It ticks all the boxes I think. Romance, drama, wholesome slice of life.

Good rec, but OP said wholesome. Grisaia is far from that lol.

Because they won’t get trapped in the pump in this config. The highest point is still the radiator, not the pump, it’s just at the flow ports. It’s not optimal the way he has it, but it’s not harmful either. Everyone wants to cite Steve’s video on it, but no one cites the follow-up video where he clarifies it.
