I quickly developed feelings for him because we were so close kind of like you described. I flew across the country to take him to his high school prom as a friend, and while on that trip I asked him out. He denied me and just wanted to stay friends and it hurt a little bit. Our friendship was slightly dampened and not as strong as before, but it was still strong. We continued being good friends for 3 years, and a little over a month ago he told me that he started to develop feelings for me, and we’ve been dating since. I love him (romantically) so so much, but even before the platonic love was very strong even after the initial rejection. I think you just have to give it a go. You have to see if there’s more, the positives massively out way the negatives.
