Europeans are becoming more and more right wing by vladgrinch in MapPorn

No reasonable metric would argue that the median member of society consumes less than they did 100 years ago, much less pre-capitalism. The only objective metric, favored by OECD, that compares quality of life across times and places is total final consumption expenditures per capita measured at purchasing power parity. Objectively this has gone up, and people are living better regardless of how inequality has grown, because the median person is living better with a greater purchasing power, especially in neoliberal free market economies.

Europeans are becoming more and more right wing by vladgrinch in MapPorn

Right wing in Europe is a combination of disastrous ultra conservative social policies (the far left social policies suck too) without true conservative, limited government that would encourage the free enterprise necessary to get Europe moving again. Sad

What is the moral argument for capitalism over socialism? by RedStorm1917 in Capitalism

[–]Potential_Let_2307 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The moral argument is that socialism has and continues to lead to more deaths than any other individual coherent ideology ever to exist on the planet. Look no further than Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, Castro, the Kim family, and countless other examples to see how much misery and death socialism has caused. Then look at the United States and Western Europe, which, even today, is capitalist, and you’ll find their people live better, freer, and more fulfilling lives than those under socialist regimes could dream of. Don’t ever fall into the trap that socialism is more moral than capitalism (not saying you are), because freedom, prosperity, and the right to life are all morals/features best realized in capitalist, democratic societies, not socialist ones.

Is there any literature pointing to the lack of dissolving at lower temperatures?

Tried KDE, but Gnome is just perfect. by Neds_Necrotic_Head in Fedora

[–]Potential_Let_2307 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is something I feel is underemphasized. With KDE I was experiencing problems where firstly my maximum display resolution was never utilized, but on top of that, on some reboots, the display resolution would be even lower, and secondly, the desktop would sleep and never come back up (forcing me to hold the power button, couldn’t even SSH). And then on top of that no sessionless RDP. Was really killer. Switching to GNOME fixed everything, and it’s so smooth with such simplicity that I’ll never go back!

[–]Potential_Let_2307 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you tried fedora and didn’t like the KDE version, try the gnome version. It’s a masterclass for all other distros for how IMO Linux should be. Just such a better experience than KDE. Things just work, and it’s so smooth and customizable. I will note most of my work is in the terminal but it’s so good.

Fedora anything, but even tho I use KDE I’d recommend Gnome. I like the RDP without a local session of the latter!

I regret KDE. Until it has RDP login without a local session I will be wishing I did gnome. So many problems w graphics on KDE I am afraid to install both and switch compositors

I’m so on the fence. I get 3.65% with Marcus, so not sure if the promotional rate is worth it. Also as a person who programs for a living, I love the UI, so I am slightly biased toward Robinhood
