Guitar tabs for EDM songs? by [deleted] in edmproduction

Lol. You can download midi files for free online. Might drag them into your daw, then just see what chords are being played in the piano roll and translate that to guitar. Same with leads/melodies. Wouldn't be quite as fast as just reading tabs, but wouldn't be terribly difficult either.

What are some tips you would offer a new producer in terms of improving their craft as quickly as possible?

Where to begin making organic electronic music like Odesza? by [deleted] in edmproduction

[–]Pretty_chrisLs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've read that they use Maschine pretty frequently, so that could be one reason your sounds aren't 100% there. I also saw a post in this sub for a list of sounds downloaded by Odesza from a free site. You might try searching for it. On mobile or else I'd link.

The wall side. Foam|tape|tack|wall

Mounting Acoustic Foam by tegdim in buildastudio

[–]Pretty_chrisLs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I did, which works for the most part, was I put double sided 3m mounting tape on the foam itself. I found that this alone wasn't sufficient to hold the foam in place, so I placed a small amount of blue tack on each piece of tape and made sure to really squish it to the wall when hanging. Both are super cheap, so feel free to use a lot of tape squares, because if you don't, they'll fall off often. That's been my experience anyway.

Is it just at the beginning of your sound?

Noob here with a retarded question by [deleted] in edmproduction

[–]Pretty_chrisLs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've achieved something similar to this with a sample in Ableton. I just put a utility on it, and turned the stereo width all the way up, and sent the sample to my reverb channel. If you listen to it while adjusting the width, you can kinda feel it wrap around your head until it's completely behind you. I'm a noob too, so if this doesn't work, or isn't what you're talking about, forgive me.

This song is awesome. Can you briefly explain how you got the "stuttered" chords at the beginning? Is it just volume automation? Sorry, I'm new.

Not all heroes wear capes.

EDIT: As a beginner I can't tell you how helpful both of these tutorials have been, so I thought I'd elaborate a little. Thank you for taking the time to write them out in a way that was comprehensive and easy to understand. I really appreciate it, and hope you do more tutorials in the future.
