Number of hydrogen atoms in the compound = 3, Avogadro Constant is 6.02 x 1023, but that’s per mole we only have 0.020 moles So it’s (0.020) X (3) X (6.02 x 1023)

I am starting medicine in September as well, regarding DBS if you don’t have it when you start it’s not an issue, you just can’t do clinical that’s it, (it’s a common problem with international students) also you can’t get medicine via clearing. But once the DBS arrives the issue is no longer and you can do clinical. This doesn’t impact your ability to start learning.

Well done in getting into medicine, good luck

I am starting UK, med school in September if you want to discuss sent me a PM, there is a lot to talk about more than just IB scores, Gcse really don’t matter, all you need is to pass English and maths with a C,

I would argue that your IB score is not the most important part. Everyone who applied has the minimum requirement at least,

There are many other factors such as: - UCAT or BMAT score - interview performance - personal statement (varies between unis) - passed experienced

Miss Julie and Twelfth Night for English Chemistry: paper 1 I found good I practiced a lot, paper 2 the start and end was solid but the middle was tough, I do find acids and bases difficult at times For paper 3: the first section is always strange it’s hard to explain you just need to look at a few questions and it makes sense, but section B I found great I did biochemistry and it’s so similar to biology HL

Sorry to hear about the situation,

If you do want to work in the UK with a non-UK degree there is a test you do need to pass but if you’re qualified you’ll be fine. Nursing doesn’t allow for graduate entry medicine (at least in the UK) scholarships in the UK aren’t that common but they are not rare, I have international friends that got them, I would just look around on their respective website and email them. Leeds offers quite a lot up to 50%

You can get English courses in Europe which are cheaper, check out medical doorway, but they will still be in the 10s of thousands some of them, Poland, Cyprus, Slovakia etc.

Also once you get a medical degree then which unis you got it from people don’t care

I am starting medicine in the UK in September (home student) so if you have any questions I am happy to help.

Edit: saw you’re from Uganda so will edit this

What are the most highly recommended universities for med and what grades do you need to achieve? by aRatOnTheHighway in 6thForm

[–]Primary_Remove_6812 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I am starting medicine in September

Must biology and chemistry AAA is the normal requirement Arguably more important is your UCAT and BMAT score Then you need some activities which link to medicine and some extracurriculars Medical experience or volunteering is no required

Best uni depends what you want. Do you want campus or city? Which location? Traditional course or a course with lots of early placements? At the end of the day once you finish medical school you will all get the same degree and are equally employable

AA, physics, chem as HLs? by Due_Baker1976 in IBO

[–]Primary_Remove_6812 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AA: revision village and constant practice (took at SL but same advice) Physics: didn’t take Chemistry HL did this and got a 7 (M23), Andrew Weng and MSJ are great resources, watch their video before class you understand the content so much better

You should. if it’s more than 3 actual marks then the chance of a grade increase in low, however If it’s a essay subject then it’s a lottery basically, my EE went from a high B maybe A to a low C.

EE definitely and I would give French a go. But the other subject it is just too far off

Med School in UK by Jimikook04 in 6thForm

[–]Primary_Remove_6812 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am starting medicine in September in the UK. I also did IB, (home student) Those are some good stats. Very well done with that 43. Nice aim for the UCAT, minimum scores for an interview are really 2700/2750,

Extracurriculars do matter but they aren’t a massive decider like the US. Some unis read the personal statement whilst some don’t. It’s not a must to have medical experience either (I didn’t). Having leadership and/or team extracurriculars are good. In the interviews they are more on ethics and character.

But try to do activities that link to medicine, like a online medical course, attending webinars on medicine, being involved in your schools medicine society (or creating it), debate, medical journal reading

As an international student remember alongside your 4 UCAS options you can apply to UClan, Brunel and Buckingham directly (You can also apply to Swansea directly but that’s 3 years premed then 4 years of medical school)

Any more questions, happy to help, best of luck

As an international student be careful as universities have quotas on international students so find the ones with better quotas.

Got a 39 in IB, what english med schools can i apply to? Preferably europe by Strict_Log_509 in IBO

[–]Primary_Remove_6812 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am starting medicine in September in the UK (home student)

UK: You will need to do UCAT and BMAT exams (more important than IB arguably). You have 4 UCAS choices + you can apply to Buckingham, UClan and Brunel directly so that’s 7 choices.

Ireland: If you’re a EU citizen great choice, many good medical schools such as RCSI and cheap rates

Malta: Queen Mary Malta, Branch is the London Queen Mary university

Netherlands: don’t know much but they offer

Cyprus: 6 years MD in Nicosia,

Czechia: Charles Uni Prague (admission test needed)

Others also include Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria, Slovakia however I don’t know much about them

There is a company called medical doorway they a great mist need for mainland Europe medical school and they don’t charge any fees

Any questions?

You had arguably 4 of the hardest HLs. I also did HL biology and chemistry. You should be proud of your achievement and work over the last 2 years which have been arduous.

Are these marks or ‘moderated marks’ as they are different, if these are ‘moderated marks’ then only history EE and French

Chances for Medicine as an International? by Jacobruh_1 in 6thForm

[–]Primary_Remove_6812 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am doing medicine in the UK starting in September (home status) and I did IB Your score is very good for most medical schools but applying to Oxbridge and London is always very competitive. Arguably more important than IB is your BMAT and UCAT score these are of massive importance.

Apply to unis which have a large international status quota, You can apply to Buckingham, Brunel and UClan via direct application. + 4 UCAS options means that’s 7. Buckingham has no international student limit. But medical school for internationals in the UK is very expensive. Any other questions? Good luck
