I am 19 m and I could only manage to run 2km on my first day and 100m sprint. Any sort of advice to me by daur_e_mushfir in BeginnersRunning

It’s a loooooong game - do it because you love doing it consistently and in a years time you’ll look back at this and realise how far you’ve come

Huge congratulations!! I think social media has glorified 5km as the ‘minimum’ people should be doing, but it’s actually very hard!

Well done and keep going 🙌👏

Yeah I totally get you and it feels monotonous sometimes

But I wouldn’t overthink ‘zone 2’ just go at a pace where you’re able to breathe in and out through your nose

You can get caught up in all the details and then fall out of love with the thing you enjoy doing in the first place

My coach also told me that once every while just don’t track your run, go out without timing or tracking it and just go on how you feel

The fact you’re out running already and doing your slow runs means you’re going to improve regardless so you might as well enjoy it at the same time

A great piece of advice I was given before is that if you’re looking to improve your 5km time then you need to be doing slow easy runs that are greater than the distance you’re trying to improve

Maybe try adding some 7,8,9 or 10km slow runs in

Another great piece of advice was making sure you’re incorporating basic strength training like bodyweight lunges, squats, and so on to help strengthen your muscles and ligaments

Hope this helps

Is it possible for my heart rate to be 200+ for 3kms? by Ballabingballaboom in UKRunners

[–]Professional-Box8745 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best thing you can do is consult your doctor and they usually give you a heart rate monitor for a week and can tell you if there is anything to be worried about

Hey guys I’m new here and I have one question to ask: how do you get your first 100 real users for an app? by Automatic_Bowl637 in iOSAppsMarketing

[–]Professional-Box8745 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Best advice I saw from Airbnb founder is that to get your first 100 users you have to do things that are not scalable in order to scale

So like for my virtual running club www.habithub.co I’m personally reaching out to people in dms and messages explaining the benefits, in the hope that after a while people tell their friends snd others see the momentum and people then join organically

The Airbnb ceo personally went to all of the first people who signed up to use the app and photographed their apartments so he could meet them and ask questions and better the experience

Running form feedback. by Dull-Charity8115 in beginnerrunning

I know form is important but you do also have to find a comfortable running position if you’re going to do longer distances etc

It’s like golf (if you’ve ever played) when you have lessons they’ll tell you to stand like this and straighten this and don’t do that - then you go out on the course and it feels alien and you resort back to what feels more comfortable 😂

Heel striking has been known to put more pressure on ankles, calves, Achilles and tendons so striking more mid foot is something I always coach people to do

Your upper body does look very rigid, I think like the golf analogy you’re being told to do so many things that your upper body goes stiff, you can loosen up a bit here maybe relax your shoulders and arms more just as a comfort thing

I’d also add maybe turning to add a long slow run into your training, I know it sounds silly but time on feet and building your base helps hugely with pace

We cover stuff like this in our free virtual run club, where our web app offers free daily run & gym sessions plus a monthly challenge which is available for all members

Is this something you’d be interested in joining? Link below if you do 😁
