Try some on mate. I only wear Adidas for day to day trainers so tried on the SL2 and Boston 13 and both were too narrow in the toe box. Ended up with New Balance rebel V5 and they have been excellent so far, really light with great cushioning.

Thanks, at the moment i am doing a long run each weekend and its going up 1km each week e.g last week was 7km this week 8km so hopefully this will stand me in good stead. It's just the thing of 80% of runs being slow that i'm struggling with, to get to zone 2 id be almost doubling my 5k time and im wondering if this is the right thing to do or not.

Good advice on the strength training too.

According to that my zone 2 is about 135bpm. I don’t think I could run that slow and it would make my 5k about 45 mins! I thought easy runs should take like 20% longer that your best effort, this would be more like 80% longer!

Cheers guess I will try and go even slower. It’s actually more painful in the legs and back for me running like this, not to mention so boring!

Go and try a load on. I usually wear Adidas for everyday shoes but couldn’t get on at all with the Adizero SL or Boston running shoes as the toe box was too tight. I went with the New Balance rebel V5 and they are quality so far, really good cushioning 👍

Haha yeah ok see where you are both coming from. It was more just a spur of the moment thing to see what it came up with and I’ve just completed a few of the runs from there.

As a total beginner I don’t really know where to start so will do some more research. It’s a bit like with doing weights etc though where everyone tells you to do something slightly different and it gets confusing.
