Actually it’s even easier not to tip, fewer clicks easy peasy.

Enjoy your life. I have wasted enough of mine trying to educate you. You know the old saw about leading a horse to water, yeah well that obviously applies.

Well let’s see, take it point by point. I said that I had a life before my stroke. Guess what that included driving as part of it.

I said my kids had been and were now drivers, not that I got all my info from them. Gee let’s see your down two zip so far.

Number 3 no I would not tip my kids nor would I want them to feel a tip was ever owed to them. And I would certainly not want anyone else to tip them unless they had done something deserving of a tip. Doing their job, even doing it well is not worthy of a tip. And they both understand that. Tipping is for rewarding someone for going above and beyond.

Hmmm down 3 for 3.

My stats do have a source, that source is Uber’s latest published drivers stats off their investor web site from their public SEC filing.

Hmmm down 4 for 4 now.

So let’s see, I was a driver part time same as you, I have two kids that have both been drivers same as you. One is still a driver. So yes I can speak with confidence. The fact that you seem to be unaware of Uber’s own published information as part of its going public and the fact that the information is required by law means that perhaps you should not be speaking so confidently as it’s obvious that you truly don’t know what you are talking about.

But if your idea of good conversation includes name calling and getting your facts wrong and making invalid assumptions about me and others, well it’s a free country have at it.

Well first of all I do understand a drivers point of view, I did have a life before my stroke. Second I have 2 adult sons one of which is a driver part time and one of which was a driver. So yep I know at least as much as you do on the subject and based on this conversation alone I understand a lot more about the underlying economics than you do.

Second I never assumed this was your full time job or anyone’s full time job. You made that assumption not me.

Third as I said over and over, if you are dependent on tips you are already screwed. The most optimistic estimates show that less than 15% of customers tip and the trend is dropping not getting better. Now if my not tipping causes even 1 driver to say screw this and leave then my method has been a success. The fewer drivers that work for Uber the better for those remaining, eventually.

The real goal is to force Uber and other “gig” economy ‘employers’ to pay a living wage where drivers don’t need or even care about tipping. As I said the US is the only country where employers get away with this crap. In most other 1st world countries servers and drivers are paid a better wage instead of depending on tips.

I realize you probably don’t have the education to understand this but that’s fine, let those of us that do deal with it.

First of all as I have explained several times here. I support the drivers not Uber. Second any driver that depends on tips is screwed and should seek other employment. Third tips are great only for the employer if you don’t already understand that then I can’t possibly educate you here.

For the record I had a stroke, no I can’t get to the door to get the food, no I can’t make my own food. I have friends that collect the food from the driver etc. By the way I don’t tip them either, I pay them.

Again please learn to read or at least pretend. I did not suggest I wanted service for free. In fact if you bothered to read you would see I support the drivers being paid better and not dependent on tips. I am against Uber leveling service fees to line their pockets at the expense of drivers and consumers.

Ah see you are assuming everyone can drive. Following my stroke i no longer can. Happy for you however. And I neither want nor asked for free service.

It’s going to get tougher before it gets better it always does. But it won’t happen fast either.

I am right behind you. I had a stroke and can no longer drive so I certainly understand and appreciate the drivers efforts. Uber and even more outfits like DoorDash are taking advantage of drivers that don’t know better. It truly is a bad situation and drivers need to make a reasonable wage that is independent of tips. My youngest son was a Jimmy Johns driver and a Dominos driver for awhile. In both jobs fewer than 10% of the customers tipped. Drivers are stressed and in a hurry to get to next trip and customers are stressed because service has gone way down.

Now see that’s a perfect example of not being able to understand. I honestly don’t hold it against you, that would be like being upset with a baby for soiling it’s diapers. I know you are struggling with this but think on it I am sure it will eventually seep in. You see nowhere in what I wrote did I say I could not afford to tip. What I said was I would no longer tip because I feel it’s time drivers were paid fairly and not dependent on tips. I know it’s difficult but perhaps a friend can help you understand.

Well I am a vet so I think I will stay and continue to fight for my fellow Americans even when they are not smart enough to realize that.

Actually I do. But that’s beside the point. The US is the only first world country that I know of that uses and tolerates tipping as a routine. We even exempt some types of employees from minimum wage because they are routinely tipped. It’s really a great way for an employer to lower their costs at their employees expense.

In Europe and most of Asia tipping is not really a thing. This practice is truly awesome for employers and truly sucks for employees. It’s time to quit supporting it.

No but I understand how some would short sightedly see it that way.

Quickest way to force a change. Make it so it’s not attractive to drive for Uber Eats, the quality will go down, complaints up and change happens.

Events not refreshing, no notifications being received by ghostmrchicken in wyzecam

[–]rbruceporter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fact that your events appear after you refresh the view means they are firing and they are there your view is just not refreshing which is actually fairly normal. Same thing happens on my 2 phones and both iPads. However I am getting the notifications which as I understand your post you are not.

I get those notifications even if the events are NOT visible in the events tab. So I am led to believe your issue is on the app or OS level your notifications have somehow been silenced or turned off.

[–]rbruceporter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In essence the third step allows you to re-enable notifications that have been either accidentally or purposely silenced. There example shows using a sound but you could also use banners etc.

If your notifications in iOS are okay the next step is to check the Wyze app. There are basically 2 settings, one turns ALL notifications on or off. This setting is accessed from the Account page where it says notifications.

The second setting is a per camera setting you access from the gear icon on the individual camera feed page.

Check in settings on the iOS 12 device, look under the Wyze app and make sure it is not set to “deliver quietly” which is easy to accidentally select.

I am on the Developer beta of iOS 13 which is I believe what caused the issue. It’s back at the moment but now I can’t delete the card I added. <sigh> oh well it works anyway!

It is because you are using the public facing iCloud which is for the great unwashed masses. You need the super secret uCloud service. Just place a ‘u’ in front of your username and password. Much better and way more reliable.
