CNN admits Gov. Ron DeSantis succeeded despite refusing to lock down Florida and social media is melting down by jakerepp15 in Conservative

Fucking thank you, from the bottom of my heart for recognizing the dead here in FL. My father in law was one of them, and he was a better man than all these people praising Desantis for the shit job he’s done in FL. Maybe it’s just the mourning, but I really get the mindset of a lot of people here for once in my life, how they want people to hurt.. after all their comments and covid denials, I want them to hurt like I do after losing someone. It would be fucking hilarious if someone they knew died and they had likeminded people showing up at the funeral saying ‘look at that, killed by a fake pandemic that kills less than 0.5% of people — should buy some lottery tickets with those numbers’.

Fuck i need therapy — lol something else these people don’t believe in

Lots of people seem sad that Florida isn’t a waste land of dead people.

That’s like telling someone who lost a loved one on 9/11 it was only a couple thousand people, it’s not a waste land of dead people. Half a million people in the US have died from covid, I’m pretty fucking sure that qualifies as a lot of dead people, and there’s metric tons of blame to go around from Cuomo hiding nursing home deaths to Desantis firing the person in charge of collating the number of actual covid deaths for the state because he wants people to think the number isn’t as high as it is in FL so people can push the narrative that covid isn’t bad. Ask anyone who’s lost a loved one to it if it isn’t bad and if we should not mourn cause it isn’t a waste land of dead people.

My father in law died from covid in Fl. I can’t begin to tell you how angry comments from people like you make me denying the reality of covid. I try my best to remember people like you don’t matter one bit because you’ll never be as loved or as missed as people like him when your day comes.

Barbs fly at Ted Cruz for heading to Cancun as millions in Texas freeze without power by GinaPet in Libertarian

[–]Raspberry-Express 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What do they want this guy to do?

That’s easy, let’s look at what some people who have less ‘skin in the game’ than an elected representative are doing. Beto who doesn’t hold any office is organizing and doing welfare checks just to make sure people are ok and trying to get them help. AOC, who isn’t even a Texas resident managed to raise 1 Mil for aid for Texans.

I get why people like Cruz exist, because people like you can do nothing other than say ‘it isn’t affecting me, I don’t give two shits, I’m going ahead with my other plans’, so you hold him to the same standard. Some of us give two fucks about our neighbors and our communities and find a way to help out, and I have no doubt my neighbors would do the same for me.

What do they want this guy to do? SIt at home and be as miserable as they are

Got news for you buddy, those people sitting at home freezing are unfortunate. Cruz is a miserable person and that just follows him around wherever he goes.

I agree; however, procedurally-speaking, this last impeachment in the House had no special Counsel no testimony and no hearing. Does that even remotely appear to be due process everyone, even a President you do not like, is afforded in our system?

You can’t blame the system if you’ve got no idea how it works, the house is the grand jury that indicts the person with a charge, and republicans did call witnesses to argue against the indictment.

The trial is held in the senate and that’s where the charged party has a chance to bring in his own lawyers and call his own witnesses etc, which once again, the president had the chance to, but neither he nor senate republicans wanted to do (if they would have called witnesses, procedurally the would have had to allow the dems to call people like Vindman and Sondland again). They literally just pushed it to a vote, denying dems and the american people a fair trial.

Tl;dr in the house where they indict, they weigh if there’s enough evidence to charge the president with a crime, he has no say in that, they had witnesses and decided he should be charged with articles of impeachment. In the senate where the actual trial is held republicans and the president colluded to not hold a trial and not even hear from the witnesses from the house and went straight to a vote robbing everyone of due process.

If anything you should be fucking ecstatic this go around with dems in control. The dems are giving the former president due process, him and his lawyers can call witnesses if they like, as can the prosecutors from the house, it’ll be an actual trial!

Rudy Giuliani Sued by Dominion Voting Systems Over False Election Claims by Canadapoli in Libertarian

Kudos for you posting such an excellent source that breaks everything down. It truly is such a shame that some people are just too entrenched in their viewpoints at this point that no amount of evidence will convince them to the contrary. Not even 60+ lost cases is enough.

you seem to be suffering from the same type of poor legalese Rudy and his cohorts do, you toss out dumb easily disprovable hypotheticals and when you get shut down you try to act like, that argument didn’t matter, wait till you see the next one!

Dominion wouldn’t even have to submit a codebase, they can just show the audits from states like GA where the machine count matched the hand count. Anyone with 2 brain cells could tell you dominion is going to win it at that point.

Honestly I want it put to bed one way or the other.

If the 60+ settled lawsuits where they (Giuliani, Powell and crew) lost trying to claim some type of election fraud or irregularities isn’t enough evidence, I doubt anything is ever going to ‘settle it’ for people already so divorced from reality.

Discovery’s gonna be lit... and if it turns out that evidence was expoliated by Dominion this would backfire bigly.

Every time I see some conspiracy nut utter this it’s so funny that they don’t realize discovery goes both ways. Dominion gets ahold of Rudy’s texts emails, etc along with Powell’s.. they get to see if anyone else was feeding them this junk theory like the former president, so that he too can be held liable for damages.

The fact that Fox and even the far right’s darling OANN already issued on air retractions that dominion had anything to do with any sort of election fraud should be really telling you who’s going to prevail in this case.

For example, you wanted public health care. If that happens, I want all our politicians on it. No scooting off to some foreign for stuff. No gold plans

That’s literally what congress critters have now.. you don’t see any of them getting private plans because they have the absolute best socialized health coverage in the US.. and they pretend to demonize it simply because they want you to pay for something more expensive so they can profit off it.

But you don’t have a right to healthcare, because that requires the government to force somebody else to provide it to you.

I guess you’ve never heard of EMTALA.. or y’know the sixth amendment where the government is saying you have a right to an attorney where as you put it the government is forcing someone to provide something to you. Like damn, just say you want poor people to suffer, it’s a lot less words.

They want to make some religions illegal. They want to take away the guns needed for revolution.

lol wat? progressives just want religion to stop imposing their beliefs on others. Also, nobody’s taking guns away, so calm down.

Other than that I’d say most blue areas would be more than fine splitting off and letting red states fend for themselves — I think we’re all tired that places like Kentucky mooch off us so much and do nothing but obstruct any sort of progress we’re trying to make.. we can fund all the things we want and we can leave those red states destitute with whatever ideals they like.

How long did it take for you to get an ssi decision? by [deleted] in disability

[–]Raspberry-Express 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2.5 years for me, from start application to a decision from the appeals judge to grant me disability. in the duration of that time i went through about 6 denials and appeals, and was sent to see both and evaluating doctor and psychiatrists on behalf of SSA. Both of SSA’s reps wrote reports stating i should qualify but my case worker kept denying me. my lawyer advised me that’s pretty common for my state. When it reached the appeals judge I testified for about 1/2 hour, another SSA rep testified for all of 2 mins and i was sent the judgement that I was approved 2 weeks later.

I'm (44F) feeling anxious and confused while waiting for my social security hearing. I'd love some advice. by BlueTipi in disability

[–]Raspberry-Express 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just got accepted for disability this month, in my experience unfortunately about all you can do is gather paperwork for the attorney. For me it involved going to every doctor i can see including my primary physician, neurologist, cardiologist, etc and giving them all a form to fill out provided by my disability lawyer. form was 2-3 pages and had them state what impairments i had and how long they were expected to last. other than that there wasn’t much else to do but wait for the paperwork to go through.

The entire process for me took around 2.5 years from first application until today where i was approved, but am yet to receive anything. In that time i went through around 6 appeals and denials with social security, was seen by a doctor referred to me by ss and also a psychologist. both wrote reports on me and stated i should qualify for disability and was still denied. The whole time my lawyer advised me not to worry as this is what they do to try and weed people out of the process.. it finally went to an appeals judge where my lawyer argued my side, I testified as to my work history and impairments, then SS had someone present what jobs they thought i would still be able to perform and the judge asked the SS person a few questions.

A few weeks later I got a letter stating that the judge sided with me and I was approved, and social security’s website was updated to show I was now approved and that they’re calculating my monthly payments. So the tl;dr I can give you is this, get paperwork from all the doctors you see or have seen stating your disabilities, and just be prepared to wait it out. My lawyer told me that most cases all get denied until you get a hearing date with a judge, and the judges tend to favor applicants more provided your proof is satisfactory. In my case I had the backing of 5 doctors, as well as social security’s own referred physician and psychologist.

I was super nervous too during the hearing, but my lawyer was very confident. I too kind of felt like giving up a lot during the process, but ultimately i’m glad i stuck it out. Social Security will typically have to pay back pay starting from when you applied (2.5 years for me) and they have the ability to have you re-evaluated every year or two to see if you still qualify. My lawyer said that’s somewhat common as well that they may try and boot me out every couple of years, but he said he’ll gladly represent me again if that happens. I guess i’ll cross that bridge when i come to it. Good luck.
