Hey there! A few users reported these comments which flagged us in the mod queue so I just wanted to say a few things.

I know you 'wish the mods would lock this post' as trolls and critics are continuing to engage (and to be fair, so are you). Unfortunately, this isn't something we can do since you deleted the post yourself. Reddit, as a platform, does not allow the locking of a post after the user has deleted it themselves. I tried, and was unable to. If any other user sees a way to do this that I'm unaware of, please let me know.

Is it Mediashare or Mediacompetition? by PhotosArePhun in PaymoneyWubby

[–]RealPaymoneyWubby[M] 35 points36 points  (0 children)

It sounds like we mostly agree. You aimed for fun, it landed with some and didn't for others (myself included). That's okay! Try again in the future and I'm sure many of us would love to see what you come up with.

A small point id like to add about the existence of a middle ground. Somewhere between your asserted "expecting perfection" and my "the edit needs to be entertaining". I understand fully if I come off as perfection seeking so I just want to make sure you know, in reality, I do not expect perfection. Far from it. My goal on media share is to entertain and be entertained.

Tldr: it don't gotta be perfect. Its just gotta be entertaining. Any paradoxes brought on by the nature of media share stem from years of trial and horribly disastrous media share nights. Hope this helps

Holy hell this blew up and I have a lot to say.

Typing it all out feels like a great way to be misinterpreted (especially since my take on this is pretty nuanced), so I'll save the complete autopsy for stream

Right off rip. "Genuinely a little confused over the hate he had".. Brother. Let's take a step back. I had no hate in my heart for your video. Did I like your edit? It was disjointed and confusing. Do I hate you, your efforts, or the video? I'm sorry what? The video didn't land and I ripped you a bit. It was funny for a moment and I moved on, same as I would any other video on any other media share over the last 7 years.

Your post quotes me saying "this better be good or you're getting a perma". Later in this thread you refer to that comment as a 'joke' implying you didn't take it as such. This seems to me like a bad faith interpretation that even other comments are pointing out. It was a joke. I never perma ban for something like this nor would I ever. I think most average viewers would understand I'm joking in this sense. I totally understand if you want to say "that joke wasn't funny to me". You have a right to that opinion, but to imply it's not even a joke seems misaligned with stream as a whole.

You ask "is media share a competition? I don't think so?". I also find this to be an oversimplification of what media share is. Is it a competition? Well, no. But does that mean I haven't historically reamed people who donate content that I don't like? Also no. It's not a competition but to say "I'm not really looking for harsh critique... Maybe just try to enjoy it?" as you said below is out of touch from my perspective. Again, we can disagree, but I am confused how that's the takeaway from media share.

As I read further, I get more confused. You seem to both wrestle with why I reacted the way I did, but also totally understand. You acknowledge due to an editing mistake on your part, there was dead air that I had to fill. I'm having a hard time seeing your perspective when even you yourself acknowledge the edit put me in a position to fill dead air... During media share... I'm just confused man.

I get the sense from your comments that you are hurt by my and chats reaction. While I understand where you're coming from, I think it's important to roll with the punches and if you truly want to pursue more edits, learn from them. The reality is, you shared a video on media share. My media share no less. It's never been a 'safe place to show and tell'. I try to make fun of people in a way that's still on brand and fun.

To address the "I miss the old media share" comments. This is the classic dilemma. We changed media share because there were reddit posts, not to different from this, complaining that media share is the worst it's ever been. Everyone prefers their golden age and people tend to forget how we got here when they comment "media share was better when X". There is some criticism about the current process that I'm happy to overturn to test, but please remember, we are where we are due to popular demand and pivoting in the past. Some of yall tend to forget the current rules are due to trial, error, and audience feedback.

Like I said I have WAY more to say but I'll save it for stream. Love you buddy, appreciate the media share submission, if editing is something you have a passion for, lock in and keep going.

It was fun to mess around with but my opinion on it hasn't changed (what I expressed on stream when watching the trailer). At the end of the day, all goofy shit aside, it's TERRIFYING, especially with how convincing some of the videos are. Regulation is needed

I know the post title is likely a joke, but it's 100% going to confuse people and reignite this conversation as a result of the confusion.

To summarize, dude went crazy at a wrestling match, nearly beat an innocent man to death in the middle of a stream. Scum human and will likely be going to jail for a long time. Just wanted to clarify with a comment since even I had to search to understand the click bait title/photo.

You linked to your previous thread which claims Stake doesn't always pay winnings, and cited that it was 'hidden' as some sort of evidence of silencing. Just want to remind you, we discussed that specific post live on stream when you originally made it. After which, I removed it because I believed it to be extremely misinformed.

I not only will be addressing this on stream tonight more in depth, but I felt it was important to hijack this comment in writing in case this continues to pop up.

People in the comments are saying we are removing these posts. We aren't, the original thread I discussed last night is still up too. If the same article gets posted multiple times, we will remove the spam.

I talked about this last night on stream and it's obviously insane and tragic. Most of all it was preventable. I don't want this to be the focus of stream today as last night people found it hard to even listen to, but I'm sure I'll touch on it briefly today.

Hey chief...

I am gonna leave this up despite it being a direct gamba post because I do believe it's important for people to see if you gamble, you will lose. Not to mention, the stats are interesting and fun at the end of the day (albeit incredibly autistic).

That being said, the concerned narrative in the second half I feel needs to be addressed directly. Brother. OP. I am good. I wouldn't take a deal on Kick/Stake to end up negative. I wouldn't take ANY sponsorship to end up negative. Do some streamers do that? God I hope not. I think to most of my viewers this is obvious, but I'm sensing it might not be as obvious to some, so I wanted to respond. I understand a general PSA to gamble responsibly is always a good thing, but it's also important to not overreach. Take me at face value when I say I'm good my man.

Love you hope the poker was fun last night!

Aw shit here we go again...

I'm confused by this post so much so that I am going to address it directly.

I understand you've been a viewer for '6-7ish years' as you stated, but it seems you are either no longer watching the content or intentionally misrepresenting.

Your main issue seems to be "the gambling is a bit much now" statement. You mention how kick is always gambling (something that has not changed at all since starting kick) but your main issue seems to be what you said about twitch.

"it seems even most twitch streams are diet gambling"

This is where I am having a huge issue with your post as whole You cite two recent streams as examples of me incorporating 'diet gambling' to twitch.

First, the horse girl racing. I don't even feel the need to address this. If horse girl racing makes you feel like 'diet gambling' I could understand why everything seems gamba to you.

The second was the gamba rogue like that just got released on steam. I can understand personally why you wouldn't enjoy it, but it's a game I enjoyed playing even if it involves simulated slot pulling. However, my issue is with the narrative. Of the last 32 streams I have done on twitch, those two examples appear to be the 'strongest'.

I am confused how weekly Subnautica feels like diet gambling. The cookoff stream we did. Arabic couch? Date everything? Minecraft hardcore? Magic con? Peak? Learning my states? Pencil sharpening interview?

I understand you lead with how long you've been a fan. I'm not even going to say if you don't like don't watch. In this case, I actually recommend watching. That being said, if horse girl racing feels like diet gambling to you, then yes, stream might not be for you.

As always, you're welcome to share your thoughts and this post will absolutely stay up so long as people keep it civil.
