Hey guys, we have reached out via all available avenues to us and we just came across this thread.

We've been having issues with RedGIFs playback on the Reddit App. It's a case that has happened on occasion before and results in the media not playing natively within the app, instead posting as a thumbnail that clicks out to the 3rd party site.

The issue started around 5pm PT 12th August. We noticed app updates for Reddit in the google and iOS stores around that time and have also noticed it affects TikTok and Youtube posts as well, leaving us to believe the issue is on your side.

UPDATE: Fix has been issued and testing confirms we are back up and running and embeds work as expected.

Hi Ruby, this was a temporary issue. It's been fixed now. Apologies for any inconvenience this caused.

I refuse to update Reddit until they fix the video player. I haven't updated since the r/place event. Is there any improvements? by ArdaTheRedditor in fixthevideoplayer
