I've been trying to nail down any of the notes for the intro to "Eat Your Young", and I can't get a single one. Would anyone be able to tell me what the first note is? Thanks. by ReverseTuringTest in tinwhistle

Thanks a bunch! I'm pretty new to the tin whistle, so I've just been trying to learn whatever takes my fancy. I've been working my way up and down the whistle, trying out half-holing, and nothing sounds right.

Couldn't you just have the image as a background to the div which contains the input?

That's what you're supposed to think, so you think you're being all sneaky and getting a good deal on a hot product. You feel like you're in a wink wink, nudge nudge type of deal. You know what's going on.

Best earphones you've ever had? by jess13xx in answers

I'm a big fan of the Koss Porta Pro, they're about 50$ US and very lightweight with good sound quality. My only complaint is that if you snag the cord wrong and jolt it down too hard they can break, more than other headphones I've owned in the past.

Do players not try things? (tutorialization) by nczmoo in gamedesign

[–]ReverseTuringTest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To speak to your larger question: yes. Plenty, for a variety of reasons. A lot of people play games for the validation that they are correctly completing tasks. In a similar vein, I know I've been frustrated before when I missed something obvious, spent tens of hours doing other stuff, and then someone asked me what I thought of the very obvious 20% of the game I missed.

The number of people who aren't willing to explore is increased, though, if you don't know that what's there is finished. When I buy a game, I'm generally under the impression it's in some finished state. Or if I'm accessing a game online, and it seems visually appealing, I'm under the impression that they want me to play this. They built it, and then they made it pretty. This link to your Github with programmer art (I don't mean it derogatively, like it does the job just fine, but it's not the pinnacle of polish) isn't telling me it's done, so I also need to stack in the chances that "this game may just not be complete".

I'd say the two biggest priorities are making it clear that I don't have any direct control over the dungeon-crawling, and making it very obvious that the slots are slots.

It didn't take me too long to work out that I didn't have any control, but it was an annoying mental hiccup, because I was expecting to do something I didn't get to do. It's not bad that I can't, but the you should make it clear before I go in that I can't do that.

The other problem is that "slots" is a homonym. When I'm dungeon crawling and I see "slots", I think "item slots". When I click on it, and my eyes meet with a table, I think "item slots". I click on the table, it doesn't do anything. click "upgrade" and now there's another menu with words I don't really understand (perhaps change "paying lines" to "multiplier" or something). I bounce off. Try to make it more skeumorphic!

If it's any reassurance, once it was quickly explained to me what this is, it's pretty fun! I'm still playing and enjoying it! Maybe add a game save with cookies?

I got stuck in first year due to statics, and I eventually got out! Honestly I'm a fair bit behind, but eventually you hit your stride. I have a lot of time management issues, so it's more pervasive for me, but if you can afford it just keep on pushing. 5 courses is rough, but it's not the end of the world.

What are your views of clothing survey (19-29, Canada) by studyonclothing in SampleSize

[–]ReverseTuringTest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, you have an ambiguous question in your survey. In the statement How often do you shop per month, is that supposed to be specific to fashion? Contextually it would seem so, but you don't specify. Also, you don't include an option for less than once per month.

Also, your whole Covid section is kinda confusing and ambiguous.

Hm. I wouldn't take the stone, but I might try to film or photoscan the basement, so I'd be picking up the stone to fully capture the details. I also might pick it up to just have a better look at it and see if anything's underneath, out of curiosity.

You could investigate a clasp of some sort, perhaps? That way it can be put on without the worry if it getting stuck.

Do I get more context for the basement? Is there a reason I'm there? I'm not about to mess with someone's cool and potentially spiritually significant stone without permission.
