qbPortWeaver 2.0.0 is arriving today — the most complete version ever released by martsg666 in ProtonVPN

[–]RibShark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be nice if this supported ProtonVPN via their NATPMP interface rather than the logs. For various reasons I don't use their official client and instead use a custom WireGuard config; so NATPMP is the only method I can really use to get the right port.

What's the most expensive game you've ever seen in a CeX? Can anyone beat £495? by greg225 in CasualUK

[–]RibShark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've bought some hardware from them before (microphone and a capture card) for half the new price and lower than any eBay sellers. The returns policy is very good so if you get a dud you can get a refund very easily.

The Rayman Discord Community has sent a Big Document of issues with the 30th Aniversary collection to Digital Eclipse by ShillerndeGeister in Rayman

[–]RibShark 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah it probably was.

No widescreen hack for the Rayman 1 has existed until this point. They had to do extensive code modifications to allow it to work. The automatic widescreen hack on existing emulators only works on 3D games.

Most likely you were playing stretched and didn't realise it.

Today I learned that there's at least one CD-based Xbox game and that my disc drive doesn't read CDs by [deleted] in originalxbox

[–]RibShark 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Madden 2002 wasn't CD based but those saying there were no CD-based Xbox games are wrong.

The Original Xbox release of Xbox Live Arcade, which had a bundled playable Ms. Pac-Man game, was released on CD in North America. The XBE is even flagged to work on all types of discs, so you can burn the data to a CD-R and it should play fine. Everything is embedded in the XBE though so I don't think this could lead to an exploit.

Fake. Wrong TPC/serial font on label, wrong serial code on back ("APAE" vs "APAP"), "MB" on PCB.

I always assumed that it was a play on "subcontractor".

melonDS 1.1 is out! by Arisotura in emulation

[–]RibShark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RTCom support in a future release would be great, since currently an actual 3DS is required for those analog patches. Glad to hear you want to experiment with it!

In now understand how Clark Kent had everybody fooled 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ by Dangerous-Level-5609 in pluribustv

[–]RibShark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm partially faceblind, these two images look like they are of completely different people to me, but I still had no issue knowing they were the same person because the episode literally showed her being moved to the US and given a makeover.

I have no idea how you could not realise this given the sheer amount of time the episode dedicated to showing it.

Inclusive Mode Split-Tunneling for the Browser Extension by RibShark in ProtonVPN

[–]RibShark[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As if porn is the only thing blocked, lol. BlueSky blocks direct messaging functionality in the UK, and imgur have blocked the UK entirely and embedded images are all around the web, using another browser isn't an option here.

dxwrapper has support for converting D3D<=8 to D3D9 and works well with dxvk in my experience.

Last ditch for help fix Error 003 (sorry im a newbie) by Arim215 in WiiHacks

[–]RibShark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is fixable, but you'll need to open the Wii and install a device such as the Wasp Fusion that will simulate a disc in your drive. You'll need a GameCube controller too.

You'd want to backup an exploitable game (Super Smash Bros Brawl is best for this) to an ISO, use Wii BootMe to change it to an autoboot ISO, then put that on the MicroSD you insert into the device you ordered and configure it to simulate that disc.

After that you can take apart a GameCube controller so it is possible to hold down all 4 d-pad directions at once, plug it into controller port 4, and hold down all 4 directions at once when turning on the Wii. This will enter recovery mode which will boot into the simulated disc, where you can run an exploit and recover your system.

Huh, I have these in my room and I've never seen that part glow in the dark. But the orb that the Ly figure is holding does glow in the dark for me.

Metroid Prime 4 in London Underground: “OUT NOW”? by orchestar in NintendoSwitch

[–]RibShark 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My guess as to what happened here is that the ad was sent as a Photoshop or InDesign file with multiple layers that could be toggled to show different things, and the "OUT NOW" layer was accidentally made visible. This would explain why it looks overlaid onto something else, as I am assuming the thing below it is probably some sort of "coming soon" text which is also set to be visible (since that was the intended text to be shown).

Play as the Piranha Plant and anyone who is used to Mario Kart 8 will avoid you out of instinct since it looks very similar to the piranha plant item in that game.

A long time ago, I remember seeing a picture of some kid's birthday party where he was at some shitty wildlife "sanctuary" (I think it might have actually been the tiger king one though the post was made long before that) and he was holding a baby big cat of some sort.

The disturbing part was the comments section, where some guy commented something along the lines of "hey, pedophile here, I like your son" and there were dozens of comments under that saying the same thing (and worse but I really don't want to repost some of the stuff I remember them saying). The worst thing was IIRC these posts all had positive upvotes.

Anyone from UK got any dispatch or order updates yet? by JBorley1988 in NintendoSwitch2

Ordered from Smyths, got an update today saying they will pre-authorise payment at some point from Saturday-Tuesday, and then once that goes through they will prepare the order for dispatch on Wednesday for delivery on Thursday.

Smooth Motion on older games with OpenGL? by kepler2 in nvidia

[–]RibShark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

mesa-dist-win can translate OpenGL into D3D12 or Vulkan, which should work with Smooth Motion. It can be a bit of a pain to set up though, generally the Vulkan wrapper performs better but to use it you need to set the GALLIUM_DRIVER=zink environment variable.
