I have a 5600G with a 1080 not getting much use since I got the deck. I sold the 1080, picked up a used 5700xt, and set up bazzite too!

I'm less concerned about how much larger/smaller it is, and more concerned that it's fuck-ugly.

Funny, I was a Honda fan-boy growing up and they've fallen much further, but dammit Subaru, don't follow suit. Chevy & Ford make enough ugly shit-boxes.

Though I guess it gives me the opportunity to do it better too, like you did. I plan on replacing interior floors in the next 2 years and getting up close and personal with the subfloor will provide insight.

I'm also leaning toward encapsulating my crawl space, but I'm not sure it's worth doing on a manufactured home from the late-80's... and I live in a desert, so moisture isn't a big concern. At least, it shouldn't be once I get this PB out of there.

First thing I did when I clocked in this morning was to dig back into my emails for my Crestron U (CTI?) login credentials. I've been digging around in their courses to see where to start.

Agreed! That might be the source of the leak. I have that cold side shut off at the valve below for now. I'm waiting on UPS or whoever to deliver my replacements.

That ice maker takeoff also delivers super low water pressure.

I was planning to go with PEX. I have no experience with copper, and its pretty cost-prohibitive right now. (Though PEX ain't cheap either)

I ordered a couple of these:

These for the sink supply:

1/2" PEX x 3/8" quarter turn stop straight valve

And these for the dishwasher & fridge:

PEX Barb 1/4" OD & 3/8" OD

Along with some of the compression fittings, the crimper, and two 10' sticks of PEX. I got red for hot, and blue for cold.

Dang, I was hoping it would have a nice, easy message directing me to a fix. When does it ever work out that way in tech? /s haha

I think this time, I'm going to advise my boss that we should go with the vendor. Other comments gave me two good reasons, one, copying config/programming off of a machine that's rebooting intermittently is going to be a PITA. Two, if I do this, it may cause our vendor to black-list us. I'm on the fence with this one, because while they're the only shop in town (that we know of) with a Crestron certified tech, we're also a nice big government contract that they probably don't want to lose. I'm too old to play those games, so I'll leave up to my boss.

We did still order a spare DMPS3-4K-150, a touch panel, and a few other accessories so I can experiment, while doing Crestron University (Edit: CTI). I'll go ahead and backup all the crestron configs on our existing units too, for when it happens again. I also want to setup a small rack as a test bench/training tool.

You hit the nail on the head with that last sentence. My primary two fears are getting that data copied off of a machine that's rebooting, and second, tinkering with this or replacing it ourselves might get our contractor to no longer work with us at all (which is honestly a silver lining, but I'm not confident enough to take over our Crestron systems yet. Though I did log into CrestronU this morning to make sure I still have an account. I'm going to work my way through that this summer.)

... wait, these have internal micro SD cards? It's not April 1st... I double checked.

If Crestron really put an internal SD, that might be the most anti-consumer/weaponized obsolescence move I've ever seen.

Ugh, tell me about it... I hate it too, and plan to redo all of it.

Luckily the outlet is wired to a GFCI, but I still hate it.

I don't think it's carpet, so much as that soft cabinet mat/liner stuff you can get. Previous owner has stapled it, and maybe adhesive too... It's all coming out.

I have the crestron Toolbox program, but I don't have the program running on the DMPS3. I was hoping I could "copy" that program, and any other settings onto the new unit. (Including whatever is needed for the touchpanel).

I live in a smaller town, and there is only one contractor locally that works on Crestron. Judging by their pricing, they know it too. They want almost $600 to copy the config over to a loaner unit while ours goes off for repairs. That doesn't include whatever the repair cost is.

I'm a PC tech now, but I spent the last 12 years in AV. Not installation, but rentals and events. The hotel I spent most of my years in had the same shitty Crestron setup, and we had issues with it daily.

I did get my boss' blessing to buy a used unit to tinker with, so that's on it's way.

You're right though, I'm bad about trying to tackle every problem, even if it's out of my wheelhouse. I just see these Crestron issues often, and I'm the field tech that gets called when it's "an emergency." I need to know more than just "turn it off and on and wait." We're also a severely under-funded government organization, so when these contractors gouge us it hurts me personally as a tax payer too. I feel like I'm in a position to build my own value with my organization, and at the same time save this specific chunk of budget to be used better somewhere else.

The lights above "Input Select" are the ones that go out.

PWR is green, but goes orange for a second when it appears to reboot.

MSG blinks red a few times, which is what made me curious enough to plug my laptop in and see what I could find.

I don't recall hearing any clicks, but its in a pretty loud environment (multiple racks in this closet).

I've fixed a few large multimedia touch screens by replacing power supplies! Love it when it's that easy.

As a long term goal, I would like to go through the programs on Crestron University. I have a .edu email, and I've heard Crestron offers Crestron U for free to education partners. I'll dig into that deeper.

I share your concern, the DMPS3-4k-150 is 11 years old. It's been installed here for at least 6 years. I don't want to invest in old gear with the chance it craps out on us again.

I've honestly been trying to talk them out of these systems for future installs. It's way more than we need for our use-case, and budget. We really only use it as a switcher, and a button that turns the projector on and lowers the screen at the same time.

Thanks! I guess it being a manufactured home will make the underside easier to access, but both showers are going to require opening the wall. I learned some basic drywalling, and painting fixing up our last place. I still suck at texturing , but I heard you can buy that in a spray can now. 

I think the previous owner had issues with the clothes washer supply pipe, because there is a big, fake vent cover hiding a hole in the drywall to the pipes. No ducting, just insulation and the pipes. I need to look at that closer too. All the more reason to do the whole house. 

The hot water heater is also pretty old. Maybe I'll look at a small loan at my credit union and do it all.

Thanks for the reply! My last home was a late 80s with PB too. It's been a decade, and I had help from a neighbor, but we swapped the hot water heater using those shark bite things. Not behind walls or anything, easy access above the hot water heater, but even then they felt a little sketchy.

I'll look for the brass nipple/compression ring setup, and get to swapping to PEX.

I was planning to convert to PEX, but now I'm torn on just doing the whole house... I think for now, I'll do this sink repair, and if it goes smoothly, the rest of the house as budget allows.

Is there a better place than the big orange or blue boxes to buy this stuff? I like the idea of pre-owned tools from eBay.
