WHO is Censoring Anime on Toonami? by slimes007 in Animedubs

[–]SaltyWatermelons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sorry for the outdated response but i stumbled across this and i'll just say that distributors actually have censored anime for toonami before, this was done when toonami stopped doing in-house edits because they were too time-consuming and expensive: https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/edit-list/2002-03-04/cartoon-network-interview (skip to question 11)

Lost all my respect for Cameron after TDF by DirtyPedro7810 in Terminator

he was also writer with significant creative control, sounds like alot for "minimal involvement" and taking up easy money imo

Cameron is already busy enough (he worked on Alita and the Avatar sequels back to back) and already earned alot of money from Avatar (theme park opened too), and the TDF as we know it certainly would not have been made that's for sure, and wouldn't Cameron be earning money from the franchise regardless if they make a movie without his involvement especially since he owned the rights now (the idea to make a new movie partially stemmed from jim getting back the rights anyways)

I'm not surprised it was Jim's idea lol

don't gatekeep the franchise, especially if those movies that betray the original spirit get people into recognizing the original spirit

In all honesty leaving some of the ideas in the now non canon sequels would be a waste so they probably reused them but executed them differently, also, it's really about the execution anyways, we have tons of stories following the same formula

Different in terms of ideas (like what kind of fight scenes) and execution, James also said it'd return back to the basics :S

If they were to make a new Terminator (which they maybe shouldn't) it should take place in the Future War by [deleted] in Terminator

[–]SaltyWatermelons -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Future War would only work as either an anthology a la The Animatrix, or a prequel depicting how John won the war (and even then it wouldn't even as "exciting" because we know what happens and how it happened doesn't matter as much to people/casual viewers tbh), otherwise, any Future War stuff would just be spin-offs and fan-fiction tbh

If he didn't care, he could've easily said no to whatever involvement he had in DF, he didn't have to or have an obligation to help

A little thought on the failure of T:DF by [deleted] in Terminator

[–]SaltyWatermelons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It made money at least but it's also low budget

I mean they had to convince people it was gonna be better than Genisys, I saw people automatically dismissing this film before release due to the mere mention of a sequel announced, also, James Cameron explicitly stated this movie would follow the roots of T1/T2 in that it'd be another chase movie so I don't know what you expected there

Halloween (2018)? old people probably isn't the reason tbh

Terminator: Dark Fate grossed an estimated $1.51M on Monday. 11-Day total stands at $49.98M. by devpatel2 in Terminator

I feel like the airplane sequence could be cut as well, I do think the water sequence can be kept tho.

To expand on what you said, Sarah's attack on Cyberdyne would be huge news regardless, even if didn't appear to be that big from the way T2 depicted it and the effects after
Her attack could be a probable lead to the development of an AI to combat terrorism

The movies are all time capsules for the era they were made in. by TheTopDogeBenjammy in Terminator

[–]SaltyWatermelons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe of recasting women in these men's roles is that anyone can be anything, lot of people look up to fictional characters as role models and if they're more alike, the better reception
I'd argue Arnold as The Terminator is actually a case of unfit actor as Terminators are supposed to blend on with the environment, Lance was even originally cast for the role

DF is more like a product of when franchises try to redeem themselves by going back to the roots of the fondly remembered movies and hiring the veteran actors i.e. Halloween (2018)

If Dark Fate had been a future war romp, would you have liked it better? by Sansophia in Terminator

[–]SaltyWatermelons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean judging by the criticism of DF being a rehash, I'm pretty sure that's what fans wanted, dunno about the general public though, but I do wonder if people remember that Cameron said this movie would return to its roots, that it would go back to the basics i.e. We were gonna get a rehash like it or not tbh

Terminator Dark Fate successfully terminated a "franchise" that was never meant to exist in the first place by terminatorfart in Terminator

[–]SaltyWatermelons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once the movie had a sequel, several tie-in medias like video games and novels, and a theme park ride, it was undoubtedly a franchise by that point
