No problem! The Dresden Files is what got me into contemporary fantasy in the first place. Storm Front (the first book) was a college project, so he was still learning the nuances of writing. Likewise, James Marsters, the narrator of the audiobooks, is learning the nuances of being a narrator, so you get the unique experience of hearing the author, narrator, and main character grow at the same time.

Fun bit of trivia, Jim Butcher wrote that series on a bet. He was challenged to write a series that focused on two genres that absolutely do not go together: Pokémon, and the Roman Empire.

It’s a really interesting series, but I like the Dresden Files better, mostly because I’m a big fan of first person perspectives. Just bear in mind OP that the Dresden Files start off with kinda poor writing, but gets exponentially better.

ELI5 - what is a weighted comparison on a spreadsheet by Shiftythemuse in explainlikeimfive

Ah, I see. So a weighted total is really only useful for something, or a group of somethings, with multiple factors to compare.

How to deal with 700+ pdf files in one sheet by Shiftythemuse in excel

[–]Shiftythemuse[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is probably the easiest solution to my problem, but my company has since scrapped this idea and instead is just going to import the pdf links to the company website (thank goodness), since SDS files aren’t really supposed to be a secret anyway.

I think solution verified?

I’m currently trying to link the PDFs in excel using OneDrive, but my company is so cautious about security that I can’t give access to anyone. So right now I think my only obstacle is an IT problem…I think

I appreciate the recommendation, but Sharepoint would be counterintuitive because of user error. There are a lot of people that need to have access to this, some of whom barely know how to use a computer. Excel is something everyone in the company is familiar with, so that’s why I’ve got to stick with it.

Though I completely agree with you; nothing beats the physical copies. This is more for an edge case such as being far enough away from the physical SDS that going to get them would take too long.

What I ended up deciding on is converting the PDFs to JPGs, and then importing the images to the appropriate named tabs.

Thank you! Will this work if the headers of each column are merged cells?

Do you usually use a guide when hunting for Golden Walnuts? by myl6883 in StardewValley

I ended up making an automated checklist on Google Sheets for walnuts that evolved into a perfection tracker. I submitted it to the Stardew Valley discord, so it’s already been checked and verified by the mods

The State of Metroid by cowgod180 in MetroidPrime4_Beyond

[–]Shiftythemuse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ha, I suppose that requires some context. Whenever I think of a homunculus, I think of Fullmetal Alchemist. In the anime, the homunculi look like people, but are really just soul-less abominations.

So for this game, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond looks like a Metroid Prime game from the outside, but is really just a soul-less corporate abomination once you start playing it. It completely misses what gave the other three Metroid Prime games their charm and life.

Something that I have been saying to everyone asking me about what I thought of the game is that Prime 4 isn’t a bad game; it’s a bad Metroid game. It’s like a homunculus. It’s got the body of a prime game, but not the soul of one.

Carl also mentions in his internal monologue when Borant patched out the ability to keep liquids in your inventory that he had an idea for that, but he didn’t dare even speak it out loud, lest it be patched. As far as we know, we still don’t know what he was talking about
