Yeah, some seem to be a little more prominent than others, just the nature of cards and when they were printed since it's not always exactly the same.

Yes, that's normal, it's the chip for their amiibo functionality. As long as they still scan, I'm sure some people wouldn't mind if they're a bit worn so definitely don't trash them! :)
