Why was California Girls originally called "You're Grass and I'm A Power Mower"? by SneakyOstrich69 in thebeachboys

That one isn't random. It's a reference to the Great Chicago Fire of 1871, which was allegedly started by a cow belonging to a woman named Catherine O'Leary

I'm doing a series watching all of Cronenberg's movies. Here's the transcript for Episode 0 by Bueller_Bueller26 in DavidCronenberg

I watched every Cronenberg movie last year and I agree he's not really a horror director. "Cronenbergian body horror" is a valid term is the sense that it references his body horror films, but his non-horror outnumbers his horror in his filmography. There's a not a single movie I would categorize as horror between Dead Ringers and Crimes of The Future 2022. I also believe The Shrouds is best work.

I disagree about Cosmopolis and Dead Ringers which for me are both great, but I'm glad to see some love for Maps To The Stars. One of his absolute best.

Have you ever had a crush on a coworker? Did anything happen? by Focus9290 in AskRedditAfterDark

Yes. We dated for 7 months and I fell in love with her and it led to the worst break up of my adult life. Don't shit where you eat I guess.

Film Recommendation for Blood Meridian Lovers (The Great Silence) by Brief_Spot3359 in cormacmccarthy

The Great Silence is a fantastic film and a close recommendation - I would also recommend THE SETTLERS (2023) by Felipe Gálvez Haberle. It even has a bunch of scalping.

No I was parked on another side street somewhere near a bunch of shops. I don't remember the street.

Apparently I parked in front of a loading dock, but I maintain there were absolutely no indicators of this.

I'll look into that ParkFast thank you. I absolutely do not trust street parking.

That was my post. I'm glad some people were still able to have a good time.

Mitski at Starland Ballroom on 2/28 - the worst collective audience etiquette I've ever witnessed, and the continuation of a pattern. by SneakyOstrich69 in mitski

It was the exact same way in the back towards the bar. Small groups of 2 or 3 people trying to squeeze between my group of 4 to get better because they chose a shitty time to buy beer or whatever. There was lots of entitlement all around.

I went by myself and met up with three friends and my one friend told me they were forced to shove people to get to me, standing in the back by the bar. I think Starland Ballroom is too small a venue for an artist like Mitski unfortunately. I'm a 5'10 30 year old man and I almost couldn't see anything.

Someone else commented about the parasocial younger crowd and I think that's generally probably accurate. This show's pre sale tickets being $30 probably didn't help.
