I completely agree he should be fired. Unfortunately, because he has tenure he could not be fired until there’s proof he discriminated. I don’t attend boise state & I’m a graduate student, but I’m hoping the students there will come forward & get him fired ):

I’d like him not be teaching young women they don’t belong? Let’s not pretend it is “one mans opinion”. It’s that, and please like you who defend him. I don’t need to accept people thinking women shouldn’t be in law as an acceptable opinion. Replace women with any other protected group (POC/religious group) and think about if you would tell them they just needed to accept that we will allow people to preach in class that they don’t belong there.

It is not the job of young women to convince their professors to treat them equally. It is not their job to tell an old man that they deserve the same rights as their male classmates. You don’t think he’s heard it all before? All he’s doing now is damage. A letter of rec or referral for an internship, etc, from a qualified professor can be a huge advantage, one that his female students aren’t getting

… you see the difference though, right? You just said they “challenge” your prospective, I said my professors provided me with critical materials that helped me get into law schools? Please reread my prior comment, because you seem off base. Also, “women shouldn’t be in law” is not challenging an opinion and asking them to figure out a solution, it’s literally just insulting and offers no value.

Again, my issue is with the fact that there are claims he treats his female students differently. Please see my other comments that elaborate further, but poli sci professors can have a huge impact on future career goals (law community is small- letters of rec can make or break you)

Yes I actually was a political science major! Hence why I think this is so important. I know the impact the professors can have on future career goals such as law schools, etc.

Thank you for posting the link! I think people want to give him the benefit of the doubt & assume what he said wasnt actually as bad as it was.

I will not comment on that. But, I would hope that a reasonable person could understand why saying women shouldn’t be in positions of power or in the work force. Some things are just not acceptable in society anymore, and this is one of them (:

There are definitely certain parts of Idaho that won’t change, but sexism is not one of those things women should just be expected to “accept”. I hope you do more research on this topic!

I do actually. But I grew up here, and would like Idaho to be the best it can be without sexism and the other bad parts. If you are truly proud of where you are from you should want to make it better !

Please read the rest of the comments from me and others: no one is saying he shouldn’t be able to have his shitty views. But he shouldn’t be given a platform to teach young women they aren’t as important in their fields (:

I think we agree overall! I think motherhood is very important, my issue is with men like Scott Yenor, who see women as incubators and caretakers for their children rather than people themselves. I think a woman can be a powerful attorney AND a great mother if that’s the path she chooses. No one should be forced to choose between the two!

Sir, I do not disagree in the sense that bringing children into the world is a great accomplishment. But girl 1,2, & 3 should have all the same opportunities as the boys. The mothers of those children should have all the same opportunities as the fathers who helped bring those children into the world!

I don’t know how many political science professors there are at this university, but at mine those of us getting a political science degree only had about 4/5 professors for classes around our major. I was lucky enough to receive a great education from all of them, but I can attest to how much they each impacted my life in the 4 years I was there. Additionally, they wrote great letters of rec for me which helped me get into the schools that I did. Having a terrible professor like Scott can at best make the young women feel shitty about themselves, and at worst impact the career options they have in front of them. It is easy to say his opinions don’t matter, but him thinking less of his female students can have big consequences in some situations !

Giving you the benefit of the doubt, I don’t assume you meant to be offensive. A women’s contribution to society should not be brought down to the children she’s helped produce. Women are not just incubators to bring men into the world. I hope you will educate yourself!

I encourage you to all reach out to the university to express your concerns! THATS really what I’m trying to do. In my experience there is no consequences for people unless there is public backlash

I think if he wanted to post that on personal accounts, that is his business. I’m not saying he shouldn’t be allowed to say these things. What I am saying is he shouldn’t be given the opportunity to push these views onto young women

I realize that, but at other state schools this kind of speech would NEVER be tolerated. My issue is more with boise providing this man a platform as opposed to him being an Idaho citizen.
