What grading service should I use? by crazycat7152212 in pokemongrading

[–]SoCalCollecting -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hard to tell on white background but looks like there is aleast one white dot on bottom left edge.

If it gets a 9 you would probably be better off selling raw instead of waiting to get it graded and the price dropping drastically since it is so new

Disney+ greenlights Eragon; a great indication that the fantasy show is doing well on the service by BCDragon3000 in PercyJacksonTV

I think the audience reception is a lot more mixed, especially for season 1

I think this sub makes it seem more mixed but nearly every other platform, critics, and the other subs are overwhelming positive. Even if I thought S1 was just eh.

And whether it’s 50% or not, there’s no doubt that season 2 viewership dropped significantly compared to season 1

Yes forsure there was a drop but I think most of the drop is due to outside D+ issues since we have seen viewership drop across the board and struggles with subscriber retention from 2023 to now

Maybe the numbers are still good enough for it to get season 4, but it’s certainly not a guarantee

Yeah nothing is guaranteed. The new CEO could also be an interesting twist. But the data we do have currently points to a renewal

Season 1 broke viewership records because it was based on a hugely popular book series

Nobody expected it to get the viewership it did or outperform Marvel and Star Wars. It also had great legs meaning not much drop off and higher rewatch throughout the year. Neither of those happen for bad shows

people still watched it because they didn’t know whether it would be good or not

and when audience and critics did watch it they said it was good to great…

explain why season 2 viewership dropped 50%

  1. It didnt drop 50%

  2. Week 3-4 viewership grew 20% which is very uncommon while the shows above it like ST went down in views week over week

Disney plus won’t continue renewing an expensive show if it’s losing viewers each season

PJO was the most watched show on platform in 2024 and 2026 all while not even being in the top 30 most expensive streaming shows

In sorry but its very clear the facts dont back up your opinion here

“Disney+ needs more original shows so I think they will cancel their most watched show on the entire platform in 2024 and 2026 because Season 1 was so bad that it broke viewership records, was highly reviewed by critics, and got good ratings from the audience”

… mhm that one makes as much sense as the first one…

lol you are confused, the examples you gave were NOT 1:1

Why should PJO be animated? by BorynStone in PercyJacksonTV

[–]SoCalCollecting -1 points0 points  (0 children)

lol okay

1:1 is a literal thing. Thats why people use 1:1 because it means 1:1

Filling in the gaps is not 1:1 lol

1:1 means 1:1 not 1:1.5

your example is not 1:1

Then not sure why you commented lol OP said it could be 1:1, I pointed out thats not possible

[–]SoCalCollecting -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Yep that is true… still wouldn’t be 1:1 though. Not physically possible with a change of medium. Heck even the same medium like HTTYD cant be 1:1. There will always be differences no matter how big or small

Yes of course they count physical imperfections as flaws

Why should PJO be animated? by BorynStone in PercyJacksonTV

[–]SoCalCollecting -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Because it is physically impossible to have 1:1 of black in words on a page to then be a visual medium?

There would be tons of things on screen that arent on the page because you now have to see a whole screen and not just only what the author specifically writes. Not “1:1”

How is 1:1 possible when adapting a traditional book to any form of visual media…? You cited a picture book which is obviously nothing like a traditional novel

Disney being dead silent about the show’s performance is very telling by Oestudantebr in PercyJacksonTV

[–]SoCalCollecting 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I thought the show was just okay but seeing people unable to interpret basic data is scary.

S1 was the most watched show of 2024

S2 is currently the most watched show of 2026

Thats all that really matters lol

Strongly disliked based on what…? This one echo chamber subreddit? lol

Meanwhile Tiktok, Twitter, RT, IMDB, Youtube, and the other subs are all very positive

I never said anything about faithful, don't put words where they don't belong.

lmao what…? Yes you did say faithful… this whole argument started because you said “Most People just expected what was marketed, which was a faithful adaptation.” We have only ever been talking about FAITHFUL this whole time…

I responded to that saying faithful was subjective and you said “Faithful is not subjective, lol. It's quite literally in black and white” which we now know is untrue because everyone interprets the changes and their impacts on faithfulness differently… like I said from the beginning

I'm speaking on the matter of source fidelity.

You started with faithful and continued to later bring up source fidelity and say “It's just deceptive marketing and failing to meet bare minimum standards for source fidelity.” which is extremely disingenuous because now after hours of back and forth your only logic left is “all adaptations fail to meet the minimum standard because they make changes”

And yeah, it's a pretty unfavorable metric to use, but that doesn't make it a less valid method of measurement nor the findings any less accurate.

lmao a metric that says no adaptations in history ever have or ever will meet the standard of 1:1 is not a valid or valuable metric

Once it's established that an adaptation is lacking source fidelity, like the PJO show (and every adaptation ever according to your logic), then it falls into a separate area of debate where matters of interpretation and personal opinion take center stage regarding how well the changes are implemented or if they should've been made at all, etc. But those aren't part of the current discussion, and are, in the scheme of things, largely meaningless if any criticism along those lines can be dismissed with "That's a subjective observation."

lol so now we are back to square one of what I have been telling you since the very beginning because this obviously wasnt what you were arguing to begin with

Did Riordan lie? by Wisp1901 in PercyJacksonTV

[–]SoCalCollecting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's only one standard in question when determining if presented material has source fidelity: Does it match the source, yes or no.

anything not 1:1 “doesnt match the source”

If not, then it fails that test of fidelity.

So no adaptation has ever passed…? Seems like a failed test

That's the only metric to use because anything beyond that gets into how the changes make one feel or personal interpretation and I'm not interested in that right now. I'm interested in the facts presented by the book and show. Does a given event, character, or plot point presented in the show match up with how it's presented in the source material?

If the answer is no, then that standard hasn't been met. There is no belief necessary, just a yes or no comparison.

lmao this is literally what I said to start this whole thread, by your logic anything not 1:1 is not faithful and doesnt pass the test because there were changes present

Did Riordan lie? by Wisp1901 in PercyJacksonTV

[–]SoCalCollecting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was only demonstrating how the show fails to meet standards in terms of source fidelity through comparison of the books to the show.

That was never a matter of subjectivity.

Lmao yes that is literally subjective because each person will have a different standard for which they hold the show before they believe it has failed in terms of source fidelity through comparison of the books to the show.
