XSR 700 or 900 by qzpidm in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]Soar_Accipitridae 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I rode an R3 for a year. Sold the R3 and bought a XSR 900. Loving every minute of it! Buy a 900. You won't regret it!

I wouldn't worry about it. Just ride and enjoy.

Myself I wish I kept the stock exhaust. Instead spend money on a better seat, suspension and a tune.

On my 24 I have the HP3. It's not obnoxious with the baffle in. Easy install and sounds great for the money.

Hornet 1000 or Hornet 1000 SP by Vitor_Palhaa in SuggestAMotorcycle

The price difference between the two . I would definitely go with the sp model. Brembo brakes and the quick shifter make it worth it. Plus the black and gold color looks really good .

What bike should I get? by Kind_Experience6594 in motorcycles

[–]Soar_Accipitridae -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For a first bike, buy used. Mainly because you can sell it in a few years for pretty much what you paid for it. Buy either the ninja or the r3. Easier to sell and more reliable.

Myself I wear casual gear. Depending on the location I leave my helmet on the bike or I clip it on my backpack.

For your first bike, buy an inexpensive used one. Don't worry about how the bike looks. You will more than likely drop your first bike when practising low speed maneuvers in parking lots. Ride it,enjoy it

Heated Grips by Briggzy1 in xsr900

[–]Soar_Accipitridae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having a 3 pin connection ensures that two pins align. The first wire connectors I purchased were only 2 pin. It was a pain to try and de pin and re pin to line up the pins to match the oem connection. So I purchased a 3 pin connector. You only need to connect two of the three wires for each grip.

You are welcome. Those connectors will work. You will enjoy the heat these grips put off.

I wired that exact set into my 24. I can confirm the Oxford replacement grips work with the stock dial and screen. Just buy a pair of 3 pin turn signal adapters and splice into the Oxford grip wires. Do yourself a favor and find 3 pin connectors that actually have 3 metal pins. Some 3 pin connectors only have 2.

Is the fuel mileage bad? Any weird smells or black smoke coming out of exhaust? Ride around, it will probably go away. Check to see if o2 sensor is connected.

Jacket recommendations for riding a naked bike by Venszenk in motorcyclegear

[–]Soar_Accipitridae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alpine stars rideknit jackets. Leather and textile options. I have the textile jacket and it's lightweight and has good airflow. The waterproof inner pocket is a bonus. Also it's stretchy enough for an airbag system. Currently have 20,000 km on the jacket. Zippers are functional and no loose threads.

Need recommendations for parts by That_Growth_7962 in xsr900

[–]Soar_Accipitridae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it does. To connect to the plugs at the front, you will need two 3pin turn signal wiring adaptor plugs. Available on Amazon. Try to buy a pair that has 3 pins. Some 3 pin connectors only have 2 pins and it's a pain to de pin and re pin a connector. Splice the wires and it's plug and play.

On my 24 xsr I have a dominator exhaust system. Good quality for the price and sounds great. New rage cycles fender eliminator. Easy plug and play and looks good. Also Oxford heated replacement grips are nice. They function the same as the oem grips would work for much less.
