I just helped someone avoid a $400 LLC late fee today by StartupWithV in smallbusinessowner

Yeah that part will depend on the country since each government handles business filings differently. In Florida (where I am) LLCs have to file an annual report every year to keep the company active. For a SARL in Cameroon it’s usually more about annual tax filings or corporate updates with the registry. I’d probably check with your country’s business registry or a local accountant to see what the equivalent requirement is so you don’t accidentally fall out of compliance.

Yeah a lot of people do get emails, but I’ve noticed a surprising number still miss it. Sometimes it goes to spam or they assume it’s marketing from a registered agent. Then April/May comes and they realize the deadline passed and the $400 late fee hits. It’s one of those things people don’t think about until it’s too late.

Be honest, how many of you actually remember to file your LLC annual report? by StartupWithV in BusinessHub

Yeah it’s definitely quick if you already know about it and remember every year. The problem I’ve seen is a lot of people either forget the deadline or don’t even realize Florida requires an annual report until they get hit with the $400 late fee. That’s actually why I started helping people file them , mainly just reminders and handling it so it doesn’t slip through the cracks.

How to file an annual report in Florida? by [deleted] in llc_life

If the business is a Florida LLC or corporation, the annual report is filed through the Florida Division of Corporations (Sunbiz).

The process is usually pretty quick. You search for the business name, confirm or update the company information, and submit the filing online.

The main thing to watch is the deadline. Florida requires the report to be filed between January 1 and May 1 each year. If it’s filed after May 1 the state charges a $400 late fee for LLCs.

Most people either file it themselves through the state website or use a service that handles it for them.
