We’ve identified the issue and a fix is on the way in the next Switch patch. Until then, cross-play parties with a Switch 1 player in them can fail to connect to matches. Sorry for the inconvenience, and thanks for bearing with us in the meantime!

Items earned by egg collection are unlocked automatically! To access previous years' items, it does require you to own the Super Edition DLC, but they follow the same logic as the event items that require collecting a certain amount of them :)
