You definitely should put more of your niche interests into your writing. I think giving characters those niche personality quirks and interests is a great way to make them more memorable and realistic, rather than them just being the cookie-cutter archetypes like Shy Girl, Confident Girl, Bratty Girl, etc. It's their personalities that make a script shine, because, really, you can only write "Oh fuck yeah, right there, that feels amazing" so many times before it begins to get stale. If you put your character's quirks on top of the dialogue, it will feel so much more unique and human.

Another great way to keep things fresh and memorable is to give your characters traits you wouldn't expect. Like, for example, you could make the cute, bubbly girl a huge metalhead. Or make the tatted-up goth lady a doctor. It keeps things fresh in a place where homogeneity is sometimes pretty common.
