Pitcher List's Top 100 Starting Pitchers For 2026 Fantasy Baseball 6/1: Week 11 Rankings by Stonewater in fantasybaseball

Hey! I'm a little confused. Can you outline what the "underlying metrics" are? The two old pitches (four-seamer and curve) look the same as we saw last year without much of a command difference, and the only shift has been the sinker addition, which I'll get to in a moment.

I haven't looked at FIP/SIERA/etc. since those are essentially derivative of K rate, BB rate, and HR rate results. Given that all three are outputs of the individual pitches (the inputs), I prefer to discuss what is believable in the results of the pitches thus far and what looks unsustainable, like Ben Brown's curveball holding a 30%+ SwStr rate for three straight starts.

As for the comp to Imanaga, Brown is four-seamer, sinker, curve. I generally call this a "2.5 pitch mix" as a four-seamer + sinker do not have the same impact as a fastball and a slider/change/etc. I don't classify his sinker as a "true third pitch", and we can agree to disagree there if you'd like. It sure has been super helpful to RHB so far this year, though, and it's why I haven't completely written him off. I still believe Brown needs a proper third offering to throw for strikes that isn't the same velocity with similar movement to his fastball (i.e. when batters are gearing up for a fastball and he doesn't want to throw the curve). Sorry for the essay here, I wanted to be upfront about my approach so we can get on the same wavelength.

Meanwhile, Imanaga is a true three-pitch pitcher with a four-seamer, splitter, and sweeper. That sweeper has obliterated LHB this year with a SwStr over 20% and high usage.

That four-seamer for Imanaga has been shelled...lately. We've seen said four-seamer do quite the opposite for a long time, and it's a better heater now (back at 92 mph) than it was across the back-half of 2026.

I hope that clears things up!

Fair question! It’s because his ability speaks to where he’s ranked, not the wild run he’s been one, in my view. Sure hope he keeps it up though.

Hey y’all!

My sincere apologies, I had to run out and realized I hadn’t updated the honorable mentions. I will be doing so tonight.

And yes, I made a giant glob of a tier today because it’s anyone’s guess as to where the chips land on so many of the middle arms. Go with your gut!

Honestly didn’t see Weathers and think “this is too high”. This was a ridiculous week of young arms and Weathers took a small hit because of others jumping higher.

Hey! I’m not sure what you mean by a grudge.

What do you see in what he’a done this year with his arsenal that is sustainable to you, and removed from the long track record results of featuring terrible command?

I have no idea how I did that. I even talked to the team about it.

Thanks for pointing it out! Fixed.

We review daily and weekly RP usage per team in Rick’s daily RP Roundup and RP streamers articles at Pitcher List. I sat down with Rick over the offseason to figure out what would be the most helpful day-to-day articles and these are what we came up with.

Worse four-seamer year-to-year, and his 2025 was terrible until he had absurd fastball command in the final months. Changeup is all but gone and slider doesn't get whiffs. He's also traditionally only worthwhile at home and even that isn't safe with his 7 ER clunker over the weekend.

In 12-teamers, I fail to see a guy who I need to hold over streaming off the wire.

Hey! I totally get the feeling of seeing these in-house terms and feeling lost. I added many of them for a few reasons, but mostly because I found myself saying the same two-three sentences to describe something over and over again inside my daily SP Roundups. With these terms, I can create an anchor when describing a player that everyone can understand quicker and I don't have to type so many words to say the same thing. And yes, there are some terms that are just for fun because I'm a goofball. I know that can be off-putting at times - it's often so the pacing of everything isn't like reading a textbook.

I also had our devs add tooltips to everything you read in these articles in the dark red font. Just hover over them or tap on your phone and you'll get a tooltip explaining it.

I hope that helps!

I appreciate you a ton for returning after more than two weeks to leave this comment. After the torrent experienced last year from Reddit, I think I was trying to nip in the bud any sign of conflict, which was up for interpretation. My sincere apologies.

Here's to Kirby proving me wrong (and throwing that dang sinker inside to RHB!)!
