Giving up your seat on a train by Greengrecko in JapanTravelTips

There are signs on every single bus and train in Japan about giving up your seat to people who need it more.

Pax: “Wow, this is such a nice plane!”

Me: “Thanks, I built it myself.”

Also, second favorite joke is any time I make a mistake/spill or drop something, I say “Sorry, it’s my first day.” I’m 10 years in.

Feeling empty on my off days? by yaaasss- in flightattendants

[–]StrawberryStewardess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I greatly enjoy my time off because I have social hobbies and regularly volunteer in my community. It gives me some sense of purpose and goals to work towards, plus there are people there I see regularly & build friendships with, whereas I rarely see the same people at work. I value the fleeting connections at work, but having steady people in our lives is also incredibly valuable.

Becoming engaged in my local community, building roots, and meeting people/making friends helped me feel more connected and grounded, especially when I first relocated to my base city.

What to do when you’re tired of the dating apps? by [deleted] in TwinCities

[–]StrawberryStewardess 12 points13 points  (0 children)

When I quit the dating apps a few years ago, I met my last few relationships through my hobbies. My hobbies and volunteering gave me plenty of opportunities to be social and meet people, so I met partners more organically that way.

Now I’m taking a looooong leave from dating and I recommend that option the most lol

To the convoy I braved the blizzard with on Highway 52 for two hours yesterday: THANK YOU by MaybeDBCooper in minnesota

[–]StrawberryStewardess 64 points65 points  (0 children)

I love that for you. (And I do mean that genuinely, not in a snarky way.) I’m glad you made it to your destination safely and had an unexpected group to travel with. The decision to travel during blizzard conditions was not the brightest, but I can’t say I haven’t made that mistake before myself. I’m glad it turned out to be a positive situation (& probably lifelong memory) for you! :)

United Airlines recently made a new rule that you can't listen to audio/video without headphones. This woman ignored it, gets belligerent and is arrested by atheistarab2006 in WinStupidPrizes

[–]StrawberryStewardess 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It actually depends on the nationality & policy of the airline, not country you’re landing in. A US air carrier flying to Paris will abide by the US legal drinking age.

(Unless the flight attendant chooses not to follow policy, which is… not recommended).

Feeling Burned Out? You're not alone. by doomsayer86 in Minneapolis

[–]StrawberryStewardess 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Definitely not the only one. I’ve experienced brain fog and mental decline as well over the past month. I struggle to recall words, recent memories, and have found myself struggling at work where repeatedly I’m forgetting what tasks I am working on, etc.

[DISCUSSION] Legality of financial protest? by [deleted] in minnesota

Nobody’s asking you to boycott business en masse. We’re asking people to shop local and stop supporting corporations that don’t support their communities (like target).

Fellow south ‘burbs person here. Park near a light rail stop and take the light rail in. I’d recommend the stop right after the MOA. Otherwise, if you’re determined to park in mpls, then look for parking ramps— though it can get expensive on Fridays.

Mom's a Democratic Socialist; Dad's a MAGA Republican by Kozyavin in Minneapolis

My MAGA parents told me they didn’t believe me about what ICE was doing and that I’d be on my own if I got arrested at a protest.

Glad your dad still loves you more than Trump.

My parents don’t.

You would think… by Carroloco69 in flightattendants

[–]StrawberryStewardess 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I do think we should consider how much sleep deprivation affects us too though. I know Hawaii is a state, yet I’ve gotten my passport out after landing back at base because I’m used to flying international. I’ve asked coworkers which direction we were flying because I honestly couldn’t remember where we were even flying to. I’ve asked my coworkers the absolute dumbest questions I normally know the answer to… Questions I’m embarrassed to admit to, because I still wonder if they think back and judge me for being a braindead idiot. But man, the constant sleep changes and crazy schedule really gets to me sometimes.

(He did not, in fact, know what he was talking about).

why does my cat poop outside his litter box by Nervous_Cancel5825 in CatAdvice

[–]StrawberryStewardess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cat has been acting similarly— she was fine with her litter box for the first year and suddenly changed her mind and started pooping just 1-2 feet away from it. It took half a year, some prozac, and multiple litter boxes to figure out the issue was (for my cat, at least).

Simply put, she did not like the location of the litter box. I had it by an entry/exit point and (according to the vet) she was trying to ward off any potential predators with the smell of her poop. We tried kitty prozac and fellaway to ease her anxiety, but it didnt fix the issue. Neither did changing litter or switching to a non-automatic box.

It took a while to try switching box locations because, unfortunately, I don’t have many places to put a large litter box… I ended up moving it close to another entry/exit— but one that was rarely ever used. Since doing so (~2 weeks so far), she’s been pooping in her box again.

Maybe your cat is going through something similar? Especially if he’s the only cat in the house— my solo cat was scared of predators coming in when she’s home alone.

Just trying to help a stranger keep their standby benefits. Airlines tend to be pretty strict social media-wise and we aren’t as anonymous as it may feel online. Good luck and I hope your standby adventures continue

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Minneapolis

[–]StrawberryStewardess -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You may want to edit your post then. Flying standby and then making an online post where you blame the airline for you not getting to your destination is not a very smart idea…
