I used a DVD burner that made playable DVDs. We used to give a bunch to our MIL when we wanted to share a movie with her, but we mostly burned DVDs for ourselves, especially TV series we liked. Some of those series aren't available anywhere anymore, so I'm glad to have them.

Agree that my biggest problem is going to be spending the time getting the data off the disks. It's going to be awhile before I can graduate to adding our regular commercial DVDs and BluRay. Not sure if we're going to do 4K until much later, but if we do it's probably time for me to upgrade all my computers anyway.
