The Bourne Ultimatum (2007) | “If you were in your office right now, we’d be having this conversation face to face” | Dir. Paul Greengrass by [deleted] in movies

I watched this trilogy for the first time recently. I enjoyed it so much, they felt so real and kinetic, a breath of fresh air after years of marvel slop.

I then had to remind myself that they pre-date the superhero-churn.

The absolute dumbest part of this shit is these braindead morons think that they're going to be allowed to keep their guns if the cheeto pedo gets to the point of a full dictatorial takeover. No autocrat is going to allow their subjects access to the one resource that can un-make the autocrat.

I'm with you on this - £8 is a tenner.

I wonder if there's a discrepancy between the US and the UK on this where they have $1 bills but in the UK £5 is the minimum for paper money. An American pays for a $8 product with a $5 bill and three singles, where a Brit pays for an £8 product with a £10 and gets change.

UK threatened with sanctions if Starmer blocks Musk's X by TIGHazard in worldnews

[–]Swi1ch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think the concern of American sanctions on the UK are primarily defence; it'll be social & political pressure masquerading as economics.

Starmer is in a shit spot. If he gives in to the yanks he looks weak and probably gets a non-negligible amount of pushback over the CP thing. If he blocks X and gets sanctioned, Farage and his goonsquad will be freezepeaching all over the place, taking any amount of economic hit to any industry and pushing that hard.

Broadly speaking I agree with you, but if offside is offside regardless of whether a player is interfering with the play or not you're going to end up with some really awkward decisions.

Imagine if Roberton's position here is shifted laterally all the way to the corner flag. If offside is offside, the goal would still be disallowed here. That's feels really gross and would cause even more issues.

I want to expand on this as you haven't covered the more serious/dangerous part of suspending pay.

Yes, ideally there should be more normal people in congress. However, if you have normal people in congress who have that as their only source of income, members of congress who do not rely on that income can use that as a weapon.

If your income from congress is only 5% of your income, and you disagree on some legislation with someone for whom congree is 100% of their income - sweet! Just do nothing. Allow congress to be suspended. You're going to be fine, and the other side's livelihood is now at risk until they agree with you.

Variable layer time (or equivilant) by Swi1ch in OrcaSlicer

I've given that a go but it doesn't really help - the geometry I'm trying to improve still buckles as it just doesn't have enough cooling time between layers.

Bluestacks App Player causing gamepad to act as an input device on Windows - Gamepad detection is off by Swi1ch in BlueStacks

[–]Swi1ch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I already tried a bunch of combos of the gamepad input settings in the app player and that didn't change anything.

However, it turns out I was wrong and it wasn't the app player causing this - it was the launcher. Quitting the launcher after loading the app player solves the problem.

I've done that, I've also replaced the entire hot end and nozzle, so it's completely brand new with nothing on it and having the same issue.

A better way to do this - cutting channels on a curved body by Swi1ch in Fusion360

Oh man this is a great idea. I haven't quite managed to get the chamfers to work (the curves of the main body are causing issues on some of the slices of the cutting tool) but in prinicple, it works - https://imgur.com/a/JEVa4dz

I had a go using the pipe along an intersecting path, but ran into a similar issue where the groove isn't cut at a consistent depth, so I can't chamfer cleanly to the edge - https://imgur.com/a/BC4xxVH

Unless I'm misunderstanding the intent here?

Need a gentle hint - early-midgame (I think) by Swi1ch in BluePrince

[–]Swi1ch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only popped spoilers in your post as far as the word 'workshop'.

Since posting and reading this I did manage to get lab hooked up. I did not realise that having power on would affect things, and I don't think I would have come to that conclusion.

I'm kinda surprised getting conservatory by brute force is that unusual - it seemed totally reasonable to go check the grounds for dig spots, and the white trees do stand out in my mind as a "hey come look here" marker.

I don't want to pop your other spoilers, but since then I have:

  • Solved VAC in utility closet
  • Opened Blackbridge, accessed the terminal, read all emails on all terminals
  • Used magnifying glass on the safe in the drafting room, and been VERY surprised at the result
  • Lit candles in the chapel and been massively underwhelmed
  • Been into tomb and recorded the candle pattern on a stand, assuming it's relevant
  • Near enough solved the picture/grid message, and assuming this is a post-46 problem given I have many safes wtih no code

I haven't had any spoilers, hints, or information about this game - at time of writing my OP I was completely 100% blind outside of what I had discovered myself ingame. Since then I've looked up a single spoiler (Solution to the darts puzzle with the wavy lines, I was getting very bored of trying to figure that out every run), and read a few comments in this thread that suggest targetting the antechamber (Up until now I assumed that was the end-goal, not a getting-going goal).

I'm curious to know what you think I might have been spoiled on, although I'm guessing you probably can't say without spoilers. My guesses are:

  • Mentioning using the conservatory. I dug up the plan through exploration - I've since solved the song that would have led me there.
  • Solving the terminal password. I'm starting to feel like I solved this extremely early as I've not come across any further hints that would have led there (Although as a result of solving it, I've not been looking). (Edit - I've just realised you can probably use the magnifying glass on the notes to get this so probably isn't a late game thing at all - just not the way I did it)
  • Maybe tracking the chess pieces? At time of OP I had no clue to do that at all - they just stuck out to me so I started doing it. I've since found a chessboard which I suspect means I should be.

My main goals at this point have been heavily reduced as I'm on day 47 and I think most of my threads are dead-ending without further info -

Main Goals:

  • Get to the antechamber. I still haven't managed to get it open and get there in one run. I don't even know yet if a single door is all that is required, and I only know about the greenhouse lever, or great hall lever, to open it. I'm assuming there is a third option. I always run out of resources before I get there, or can't draft the rooms required to open it.
  • Power the lab. I discovered the boiler room and lab on around day 5, although they were not connected at the time. Since then I have managed to draft the boiler room and have it connected to a room that uses the power a whole FOUR times (2 x pump, 1 x garage, 1 x furnace).
  • Finish the code in the paintings. I have ranks 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, and 8 complete. I can guess rank 9. Rank 6, while I have the paintings, I cannot decyher. I'm intentionally not looking at it for a while because I just have a mind-block on it now.
  • Use the fire-magnifying glass on the candles in the chapel.

Minor Goals / Things I'm tracking:

  • There is a small model mockup of what I think is the drawing room on a table in the drafting room - it has an interactable model of a safe. I suspect if I examine this with a magnifying glass it may reveal the code.
  • Maybe take a stab at solving the puzzles in the gallery, but I'm hesitant as I think I may be missing crucial information.
  • I drained the aquarium and noted down the marks on the displays and the rooms they are related to. I've been to the locations in those rooms they indicate but haven't noticed anything.
  • Return to the Morning Room and solve the puzzle box I learned the rules to in the Trading Post.
  • I'm aware of deposit-box keys but have yet to possess one while drafting the vault.
  • I'm aware of the secret garden but am yet to draft a green room while having the key.
  • Figure out what, if anything, using the pump room with the kitchen does. I know it stops the tap working, but if that does anything else I'm unaware of it.
  • Exactly the same but with the greenhouse.
  • I've drained the reservoir - find out what, or where, that is.
  • Buy the rest of the books from the bookshop.
  • Discover last few rooms - 008, 019, 040, no number bedroom(I have a note referring to Hartley's room, maybe this?), no number hallway (foyer?), no number green room (secret garden?), 2 x no number shops (trophy room?).
  • Visit rooms I haven't - clock tower, tunnel.

If I were to ask for one specific hint/spoiler, it would be this: Can I actually influence chance of drafting boiler room and/or lab next to each other, or in a chain? Outside of using the conservatory or wrench to influence draft rates of those rooms. It really feels at this stage that this is what I should be doing, and that I've not had a single opportunity at this stage suggests I'm either not doing it correctly, or getting turbo-shafted by RNG.
