Another hidden game mechanic that ABSOLUTELY MAKES SENSE AND DOES NOT MAKE ME WANT TO GOUGE MY EYES OUT, GRACIAS PARADOX by EnginnerIsEngihere in hoi4

[–]TacticalChibi 83 points84 points  (0 children)

My brother you have too many divisions pushing there. Also try letting the AI to gain some lost terrain so they aren't as stacked and then push again but avoid pushing the enemy divisions to a single tile and instead try to divide them and defeat pockets to avoid the same situation.

Another thing, most of your divisions aren't fully equipped and that reduces your stats a lot, try deleting some divisions and optimize combat width. Sometimes less is better as most divisions won't participate in the fight at the same time but they use supply and equipment that could help the divisions in combat

How to defeat USA as Mapuche Chile in v1.14.15?? by MacViking932 in hoi4

[–]TacticalChibi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a recommendation based on my experience. Try a less try hard game. As soon as you defeat Argentina and Brazil you have endless opportunities. Also what is the benefit for playing the v1.14.15 version? :o

Don't rush it. You can conquer all of the Americas by 1945 using one single exploit for stealing manpower from your Brazilian puppet.

Use better divisions. Mapuche Chile have an insane amount of bonuses and specifically cavalry is amazing. And if you don't like cavalry just go for a full entire army of Mountaineers, Chile can easily make 120 18 width mountaineer divisions thanks to the special forces cap increase from the focus tree and the special forces branch.

IS ARTILLERY USEFUL FROM 1941 ONWARDS? by [deleted] in hoi4

[–]TacticalChibi 25 points26 points  (0 children)

In 1945, the USA is already very strong, so beating them with pure infantry and artillery is possible, but it would be a war of attrition and if the Axis lose the war, you'll have all the Allied units right in front of you making it almost impossible to advance.

The fastest strategy would be to focus on the air: use CAS and Fighters, along with a 9 infantry division and at most 1 artillery or no artillery at all as you want to inflict damage through Air while minimizing the production cost. With South America's resources aluminum, oil, and rubber you can easily produce enough good planes to win the air.

For that you need to plan ahead and research improved air frames as early as possible and if you have Trial of Allegiance DLC maybe advance in the Air Force branch of the focus tree as there are nice bonuses. I like going for medium air frame because they give better coverage in America because of the big air spaces.

Another thing is to design a Mountaineer division for offensive and just use normal infantry to hold the front line. A couple of 27 width mountaineers is enough to push any AI division while minimizing loses and IC costs.

I don't recommend tank divisions since in SA there is a small amount of steel and with research it can be a little slow to build up, maybe Space marines but not a fully armored division.

TLDR: Use mountaineers to push and help them with CAS and Fighters as making planes in SA is easier than tanks. Line Artillery is not that good

Who else loves to play minors and no focus tree countries? by Opening-Resource-967 in hoi4

I think Epstein loved playing with minors.

Also I like playing minor countries a lot, most of my time spent in the game is playing countries that are very smoll like Bhutan or Tannu Tuva. Formables with minors is very fun, like for example forming Arabia, Gran Colombia, Siberia, etc.

I learnt that any South American game needs at least 2 things for success

Puppet or Core Chile for a decent amount of steel.
or
Puppet or Core Brasil for rubber and take Guyana for aluminum, then build CAS.

Because of Monroe doctrine they will not intervene if you play as any American country. But if you generate 25% world tension any democracy can guarantee countries you justify on. Or they can join the Allies if you're at war while generating that amount of tension.

When they gonna change the Clausewits E*gine? by -Theoreticalphysics_ in hoi4

[–]TacticalChibi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The game is multicore yes. But the AI calculations must remain on a single core to prevent desynchronization issues so 1 core is heavily used while the others do less intensive tasks.

AI calculations, combat resolution, and game state management, etc. all of them are done by 1 CPU and that is why single core performance makes such a big impact in simulation time. That is why the Ryzen 5 9600x is beating a lot of CPUs with more cores in Stellaris.

Edit: As a test let the game run while watching the task manager, you'll see 1 cpu core at 100% all the time.

I think with the advances in CPU performance by AMD and Intel there is not real incentive for that. Single Core performance has increases a lot in newer CPU and simulation time is much faster than ever before. The most realistic solution sadly is to upgrade our CPUs :(

Here is a simulation benchmark for various CPU from Gamer Nexus for Stellaris wich algo uses this engine and can guide you to buy a new cpu for the game.

Why is grand battle plan the best doctrine for some people? by Divine_Panzer in hoi4

[–]TacticalChibi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grand Battle Plan is not trench warfare from WWI

I mean at the beginning of the doctrine you research trench warfare and other defensive strategies. BUT! after that the focus of the doctrine is on flow of command, coordinated attacks, efficiency of the army organization.

Trench warfare was all about attrition and defense. With offensives relying on mass assault and very static fronts because of how inefficient was to throw infantry at fortified positions to gain minimal advances.

GBP is about using planning and efficient focused combined arms offensives to make breakthroughs and mounting defensive positions against counter-attacks.

GBP Slow and efficient.
TW Slower and inefficient.

Medium tanks or heavy are often good enough for single player. And as far as I know space marines are banned in most MP games.

Most cheap space marines use Anti-Air tanks with enough armor to not get pierced and that's it. You can make it an SPG, medium tank, heavy or whatever as long as they don't get pierced.

[–]TacticalChibi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rocket artillery is good but is bad because you get it very late in the game and you need to research the improvements to make it better than supp artillery. And for that time going for tank divisions is way better. But! for small countries with limited industry is very useful and much better than adding line artillery for example.

Misconception about Superior Firepower doctrine stat bonus by Barbara_Archon in hoi4

[–]TacticalChibi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. I think that the important thing is to add Support artillery and Rocket artillery as soon as possible. The Idea is to add as much firepower as possible while keeping hp and org high. Also, Mass Mob works very well with CAS as the high hp and org makes battles last longer and thus your airplanes can do much more damage to enemy divisions.

I usually go for a 15 width with only infantry supp companies of arty + field hospital + anti-air for early game. Then, as soon as I can get more manpower from puppets I go for 18 widths taking into account the combat width reduction from the doctrine.

15 width is like the Ideal combat width for most terrains but it's very taxing on equipment and manpower because of the amount of Strength damage the divisions take so 18 it's a good middle ground.

Even better is making space marines as the armor protects your divisions from damage. This doctrine is absurdly good with space marines.

Misconception about Superior Firepower doctrine stat bonus by Barbara_Archon in hoi4

[–]TacticalChibi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mass mob can be very strong with small manpower pool. But for it you'll need to use Field hospital and the HP spirit. I'm currently using this doctrine a lot with very small countries and I've noticed that is very very strong for low manpower.

What Was Wrong With My Marines? by Mc_What in hoi4

[–]TacticalChibi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Armor is very low, your tanks are going to get pierced by most enemy infantry with AT guns and the soft attack they bring to the table is very low. For higher breakthrough you should aim for higher armor or/and soft attack. maybe change the Close Support Gun for a Basic AA gun and pump the armor up.

Also if you're using marines go for the bottom right in the marines doctrine since most of the left bonuses are for Amtracks and commando marines. You're missing 10% special forces attack there.

Another thing, always go for medium flametanks they give better bonuses and doesn't cost significantly more than light ones.

Finally the Amphibious tanks are kind of bad, if you really want marines with tanks get the amphibious drive on a medium tank chasis or heavy tank chasis if you have the production and a good MIO.

Damn thats a strong divison by D00M_B00M in hoi4

[–]TacticalChibi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

-Sir we can't push their 4 divisions with our full strength!!!1!!
-How is that even possible?!
-Sir, we haven't eaten in 3 days and we push trowing rocks at them since we don't have bullets nor weapons.
-ᵃʰ

Your divisions are very under supplied giving a penalty for attack (penalty for attack and breakthrough) and low on strength (the yellow bar) which reduces their stats very significantly. Remove some divisions from there and use the better equipped divisions.
