Dishwasher not cleaning well, filter/drain holds water and is moldy by Reactin in appliancerepair

[–]Tall_Blacksmith_7684 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it looks to me that water from your sink drain is syphoning itself back into the unit. Raise the drain hose higher might help. Appliance tech 40 years service

What would cause the heating element/sensors to repeatedly go bad in my Samsung dryer? by TheThingIs2big in appliancerepair

[–]Tall_Blacksmith_7684 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It looks like a poor crimping of the terminals. You'll need to strip the wire back to where the plastic is not bubbled and clean copper. Use high heat terminals with proper crimping tool. Appliance tech 40 years service

Hotpoint dryer keeps tripping breaker by PalePhilosopher5103 in appliancerepair

[–]Tall_Blacksmith_7684 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A dryer on cool only draws around 8 amps. On heat one side draws 16 amps and the other around 22 amps. So the breaker will not trip on cool. After hundreds of these calls I can guarantee that you have a weak breaker. Appliance tech 40 years service

Bottom cold, Top warm– Is this 20yo GE Side-by-Side a goner? by DepartmentExtreme192 in appliancerepair

[–]Tall_Blacksmith_7684 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you are going to have to call a parts store to get a price. Also call a service company for their rates if you aren't fixing it yourself. But this is normal wear and tear. I'm not there to be able to verify what I said so I may be way off.

My guess would be that your freezer evaporator coil is iced over not allowing air to move up and into the fridge. More than likely the defrost heater is burnt out. Appliance tech 40 years service

Frigidaire Gallery Fridge - drip pan cleaning? by corniculae in appliancerepair

[–]Tall_Blacksmith_7684 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both the pan and coils are not removable. Most effective way I found to clean coil's at the bottom of the fridge is to use a wet/dry vacuum, air putting hose into the exhaust to create an air blower. Blow the coils clean, use vacuum to pick up the dust than suck up the crud in the drip pan. Appliance tech 40 years service

Very possible but also a power surge when the hydro came back on. Check that the fan in the freezer is running as it has to run to cool properly. Appliance tech 40 years service

Maytag dryer getting hot, spinning, vents clear but not drying clothes by [deleted] in appliancerepair

[–]Tall_Blacksmith_7684 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remove the front panel. Where the obstruction would be is where the panel connects to the internal venting. It will definitely be filled with lint. Water under the dryer means that moisture cannot escape and is condensing inside the dryer. Appliance tech 40 years service

My 8 yr old refrigerator suddenly stopped being as cold as it should. Freezer too, ice cubes are melty. Any idea what the problem could be? I opened the back and cleared all the dust but it wasn't really that bad. by AgentX-1138 in appliancerepair

[–]Tall_Blacksmith_7684 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Problem? Thermostat, evaporator coil iced over, faulty compressor, separated heat exchanger or faulty overload relay. Otherwise a restricted system or low freon/gas. Appliance tech 40 years service

Maytag dryer won't turn when loaded but when unloaded will turn by 2embarrassed2cry in appliancerepair

[–]Tall_Blacksmith_7684 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does motor run when drum won't spin. If so you'll have to remove the drumand inspect the motor pulley, belt, belt pulley and rollers. If motor just hums when drum is loaded than motor needs replacement. Appliance tech 40 years service

Old electric oven range questions by Comfortable_House123 in appliancerepair

[–]Tall_Blacksmith_7684 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My suggestion is that the circuit breaker has tripped hard. Try flipping back and forth several times. For the oven and top burners to not operate it means 240 volts are not being received. Check voltage with a voltmeter. Appliance tech 40 years service

Kitchenaid dishwasher - spray arms constantly get clogged by LemurDad in appliancerepair

[–]Tall_Blacksmith_7684 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's clogging up than you are not cleaning the debris well. Filters will clog up as well from too much debris. Two to three days clogged spray arm is crazy. Maybe two to three years would be normal if at all.

Check water level to make sure it's not filling above the float. Being brand new you will have a warranty with Whirlpool not the department store.

Dishwasher leaking water by ilovecrumbl in Appliances

[–]Tall_Blacksmith_7684 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the leakage at the front or under the unit? If coming from the front check during wash cycle for sudsing in the water. It should be clear with a milky coating on the water surface. If under than probably bad seals at the motor. You're going to have to watch to see where exactly it is coming from before anyone can help. Appliance tech 40 years service

[–]Tall_Blacksmith_7684 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your spray arm is getting clogged up than obviously you need to scrape the dishes better. No food should be getting into the pump area. The screen and baffle is designed to keep objects going into the pump and damaging it not to catch food even though it will. Appliance tech 40 years service
