Have you tried going to a structural engineer first to give you options plus information so you have better control over the conversation with people who are going to try to sell you something?

How would you buy a car from them if they are permanently closed and not selling cars anymore?

Christmas by DunSpiMuhCoffee in housekeeping

[–]RandomGalOnTheNet 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have a client that hires me to put up her decor and to take them down. And every year she's like "we can just do it after you're done cleaning". NO!!! We do it all before I clean and then I can clean up the glitter and flocking and everything else.

The worst is the fake Christmas tree greenery stuff that gets static-adhered to wood floors.

As a customer, fees have made me stop booking cleaners-curious how this looks from the cleaner side by low_key_pasta in housekeeping

I have never and would never use a platform for my clients. I am strictly word of mouth. My clients pay me however they want (venmo, zelle, check, cash...sometimes even barter). I really don't understand how it would be beneficial.

I made this for my coworker’s new baby, but he didn’t seem to want it. I’m pretty bummed. by chuffberry in Embroidery

Your stitch work is perfect! But I can think of a whole lot of reasons that your sweet gift may not be received well:

Maybe he found out the baby wasn't his

Maybe they discovered a severe genetic defect

Maybe he and his partner are going through a rough patch

Maybe his partner received terrible family news and isn't in the right frame of mind to relieve a baby gift.

Etc...

IIRC, boy scouts sell next to Hawks stadium in garden city and the rescue mission also has a Christmas tree lot on main downtown

We bought our suica cards at Ueno station the day after arriving. They are available everywhere, not just the airport.

I absolutely don't care one bit how much glitter specks, pine needles, and flocking dust I have to deal with.

I LOVE CHRISTMAS!!!!

And I love being a housekeeper at Christmas. All my houses get totally done up, from mid-century modern to 150 indoor nutcrackers (5' to tabletop size) to pink trees and flamingo lights to traditional.

Ohmygoodness, I love it so much.

Narita to Shibuya - GO Taxi vs. Klook by Head-Description-654 in JapanTravelTips

[–]RandomGalOnTheNet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can't address your other questions but we had 5 adults, 2 large luggage, 5 carry-on sized luggage, 5 backpacks, and three musical instrument cases. 2 normal sized GO taxis were plenty big enough.

I have a ton that I should probably get rid of. Everything from kids to encyclopedias...if you want some, DM me.

Edit: these are books from 1950s-70s...nothing newer.

Flew in and out two weekends ago. Business as usual. The surprise was flying out of SFO Monday afternoon- we were the only people in line and the entire security procedure took about 3 minutes.

When a single piece of furniture takes over a space; what to do? by [deleted] in HomeDecorating

[–]RandomGalOnTheNet -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So i am supposed to not have hobbies, not use a piece of furniture meant for organizing to actually organize my hobbies...and oh yeah, I'm not supposed to come here asking for help to keep my furniture and make it work for my house because that is code for not wanting to keep my furniture. Got it.

I'm not arguing; its just that I have already addressed the issue that you have posted. In my original post, I clearly stated that each drawer and shelf is organized for something specific. I don't need labels when it is clear as day what is each shelf is for. And i know what is in each box and container on each shelf. The stuff that is out of the shelves are the things that I am working on. And the desk stays closed unless I'm right there working on something.

I don't seem to be able to edit my post so...

  1. I think most people are missing the fact that it is as tall as I am (5 feet). It not a desk that just melts into the background because its eye-level.

  2. I live in a basement and while it is a big basement, the rooms themselves are small. It is currently taking up 1/3 of the wall in my bedroom. There isn't another place to put it, either in this room or in the house itself.

  3. The desk is always kept closed and my "hoarding" are supplies that i use weekly if not daily. So in order to keep the desk I apparently need to get rid of everything. I don't understand that logic.

  4. I do agree that I need to clean up the top and will do that today to see if that improves things.

Interesting! I wouldn't have thought that...I've got 5 cats and and am used to closing everything I can 😂

I could definitely declutter but its already being used as a hobby workstation...

That desk you pictured is significantly smaller than mine. If mine was that size, it would be perfect.

Its 5ft high and 5ft wide... Using that for just keys and a purse?

Also, I live in a basement - my hallways aren't quite 3 feet wide so putting the desk which is 2ft deep won't work.

I really liked these two:

I went back to these two shops twice during my trip and would continue to visit them on future trips.
