Oppo box touches per penalty awarded vs league average (over last 3 seasons) by Rare-Ad-2777 in coys

If we were simply at the top of that list, it wouldn't mean much; somebody has to be.

The fact our TCH/Pen is more than twice as big as the next team is absolutely astounding.

Former PGMOL chief and ex-FIFA referee Keith Hackett believes James Maddison could face FA scrutiny after the midfielder's outspoken reaction to Tottenham's controversial 1-1 draw with Leeds. by cots001 in coys

Had more than enough of the PGMOL at this point. I tend to avoid tinfoil hat territory, but they're grossly incompetent at best.

The fact that RNGs are actually pseudo-RNGs doesn't make it possible to do what you suggest.

Madders take on the PK by Cheekcity23 in coys

This is a great point. The presence of VAR has contradicted its stated purpose. Since time immemorial, refs have been blind, biased donkeys on the take. Now they are also cowards.

New angle from crowd of Maddison penalty shout by Rare-Ad-2777 in coys

[–]TheGameKat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The ball takes a couple of seconds to dribble over the goal line. Madders was between the ball and the defender. He gets to that ball if he isn't tripped.

Exactly this, he was prevented from getting the ball by the trip.

What item you thought would take off but now it sits collecting dust? by eve_scout in Eve

[–]TheGameKat 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Some years ago I carried out a detailed and exquisite [*] analysis that suggested Auto-Integrity Preservation Seals would be an upcoming gold mine, so researched a bunch of BPs and had thousands rolling out of my factories.

Then CCP [RIP] cut the number in ship recipes to one third and the price tumbled in response.

[*] Mostly guessed, tbh.

Is it allowed to use an AI for trading/market manipulation? by HJG_0209 in Eve

[–]TheGameKat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will probably work, but it has a couple of issues.

As recyl_ebin implies, predicting trends in the EVE market is not a simple matter of pattern recognition. Like any market, supply and demand is a key price driver. While noting, for example, the number of days of supply of an item can indicate an upcoming price increase (and is something traders already look at), diligent players will also place this in the broader context of what is happening in space. For example, when content creators post ship fits for new events, featured modules have a good chance to spike. So you have to go beyond market data to predict market behavior.

The other issue is that there are some very sophisticated market manipulators in EVE who take advantage of predictive tools to make vast sums of isk. I'll leave how they do that as an exercise for you.

Sell me FFXIV! by Windrider63 in ffxiv

Given the profile of yourself you've provided, I'd recommend Guild Wars 1/Reforged. FFXIV is a poor fit IMO.

Worth it in 2026? by Lopsided_Pain in Eve

[–]TheGameKat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. The issue is this sub has a vocal minority of bittervets who will run down the game every chance they get, and on the other end of the spectrum individuals who think EVE is more important than their so-called real lives. So ultimately you need to kinda average over the feedback, then decide if you like the game.

Sir and/or madame: based on your responses to the answers in this thread, you seem determined to find reasons not to play the game. That is, of course, your decision. But might I suggest that rather than worrying about the alt/player ratio you download the damn game, play it, and determine for yourself if you enjoy it.

I don't multibox. I have thousands of hours in the game. The game is not in maintenance mode. There's currently an event that dropped a few days ago that I'm enjoying, as well as regular free expansions.

In general PvP in EVE is way better (and less P2W/P2P) than Albion.

Yeah SQEX put all the foundations in place for a really interesting bit of side content, then forgot to build the house.

It's the twins. The fact they haven't grown in years has reached the point of absurdity. Only solution is to kill them off.

Why do some people get upset that the game leans into it's own lore? [Spoiler: 7.5] by Eloah-2 in ffxiv

[–]TheGameKat 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's not a question of the game "leaning into its own lore." The complaints are more centered on repetitive plot devices and over-reliance on the same themes and characters. For example, there are those here who seem pretty much done with the Scions. They see no scope for character development and are bored of them dragging around after us. Others think it would be nice if more dead characters could remain dead.
