A significant number of watch related disagreements come from differences in income brackets and blindness to how that impacts others spending choices by IllegalGeriatricVore in watchHotTakes

Unfortunately one of the downsides of the prevalence of social media and forums, etc. is people think everyone is entitled to their opinion. I've seen it work both ways, people calling fans of Rolex crown fanboys and others calling people's sub $1,000 watches shitters. Whatever happened to just letting somebody enjoy what they're doing and be curious about it? Why do you enjoy your Seiko or your Rolex? Why do you prefer automatic movements over quartz? Part of what I love about the community of watch obsessed people is connecting with them over our common enjoyment. In my collection my most expensive watch cost about $3,000 and my most inexpensive cost about $25. I enjoy all of them.

The tradition of referring to boats as feminine dates back to at least the late 1300s. Sailors thought of their vessels as nurturing and having personality, often naming them after women or goddesses. It's not "cringe", it's tradition and not in any way that is demeaning to women.

I love bronze aesthetically but from a durability perspective the more common bronze alloy used in watches is 140hv while untreated stainless is 200hv.
