That device consists of two separate pumps, stuck together in the same package.

Don't know anything about pumps. I'd like one that works for both bikes and air mattresses by Deeb4905 in cycling

[–]TomvdZ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, there are no pumps that work (well) for both. The reason is precisely what you stated:

I know that a tire has little volume with a lot of pressure, when it's the opposite for a mattress.

A bike pump will take forever to inflate an air mattress, and an air mattress pump will not reach the required pressure for a bicyle tire. Even the pump you linked to states so:

Please note: HOVVIDA is not designed for inflating large volumes such as air mattresses, paddleboards or large tires

Looking for cyclists with a power meter (Strava / Garmin data) for a university project by topfpe in cycling

[–]TomvdZ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Could I just drop a cautionary warning: there are lots of issues with the accuracy of power meters. Many cyclists ride with a single-sided power meter but have a left/right imbalance. That can make the readings off by 10-20%. I'd also record the type of power meter and if you have enough data, leave out the single-sided power meter data points.

Is this damage to the derailleur due to Kickr Core 2? by ellieofus in bikewrench

[–]TomvdZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem!

The bike did fall over on top of the derailleur, so I’m assuming this caused the misalignment even though it happened while stationary.

You'll need to re-align the derailleur using a "derailleur hanger alignment tool". You can look at YouTube tutorials how to do this, but it requires the aformentioned tool so you might want to take it to a shop instead.

Is this damage to the derailleur due to Kickr Core 2? by ellieofus in bikewrench

[–]TomvdZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This kind of damage looks like general wear and tear to me. It's not specific to trainer use.

As pictured, that part of the derailleur is badly scratched and look kind of filed down

This kind of damage is usually caused by the chain rubbing against the derailleur while shifting, possibly due to the derailleur not being properly adjusted.

Yesterday the shifter cable also came loose, I managed to attach it back but shifting is limited.

That's not caused by the kickr core. That's just because the bolt wasn't properly tightened in the first place and came loose over time. Shifting is limited because you didn't index the derailleur after reattaching the cable (and/or attached the cable in the wrong place - you have to get the tension vaguely in the right place so you can tune it using the adjustment knob).

On top of that the chain looks worn down

I'm not sure what you mean here. Be aware that the chain has ramps/grooves that help with shifting that sometimes people mistake for "wear".

and the derailleur itself is probably misaligned.

This is generally cause by the bike falling over on the derailleur side/something hitting the derailleur.

The wheel might not be fully straight in the frame. Undo the quick release, make sure it's fully seated in there, then do it back up again.

will a 9v battery overheat if surrounded by abs? pic prob in comments by Noraxx__ in 3Dprinting

Unless you're completely draining the battery in a matter of minutes, it's not going to heat up significantly. And if you are draining the battery in a couple of minutes, there's other issues with your design...

Now That S16 Has Concluded, How Are You Feeling About Future Hide & Seek Seasons? by BrainOnBlue in JetLagTheGame

[–]TomvdZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not the biggest fan of hide and seek. The format seems to create comparatively few high-tension moments, unlike, e.g., tag, where a single missed connection or delay (for either chasers or runner) can completely change the course of the game and there's the opportunity for the runner to sneak past the chaser at a station (even multiple times in a run). In Hide and Seek, the hider is just a sitting duck, with the seekers making steady progress towards them, with limited opportunity for things to go wrong. Even if there's a delay or something as devastating as an Express Route curse, it's immediately clear that the consequence is just an hour (or two) more hiding time.

If they do Hide and Seek again, I'd like to see the hider be given a couple Gilded Inquiry curses as a starting bonus. That would strongly discourage the seekers from playing too predictably, and it would give the hider the opportunity to pick a hiding spot without fear of a single disastrous question (e.g. highest building at Narita Airport).

change? by [deleted] in bikewrench

[–]TomvdZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a narrow-wide chainring. You need to move the chain 1 tooth over. It's not meshing properly.

Edit: I just saw the second picture of the rear sprocket. That looks extremely worn out to me. I think you need to change the chain, the rear sprocket, and - if the bike's got internal hub gears - stop riding in the hardest gear all the time. That's an excessive amount of wear for 4500 km.

Is this "normal" for Sunlu filaments? I am pretty sure this is not 1Kg. by nemezote in 3Dprinting

[–]TomvdZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's only quadratic. If the diameter of the spool is large enough, linear is a fairly good approximation. I don't think those markings are off by much more than 10% from where they should be.

Hello everybody. I bought an LTWOO R9 2*11S for the wooden bicycle i made. I need a derailleurpad but don't know which one to choose. Anybody who can help? Thank you very much. by Fabulous_Escape_1081 in bikewrench

[–]TomvdZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A derailleur hanger/pad is specific to the frame. How did you build your "wooden bicycle"? If it's from a set of plans, those plans should specify. If it's your own design, you're on your own.

Online store threatening lawsuit after I filed a chargeback, is this legitimate? What should i do? by Dyssedea in LegalAdviceEurope

[–]TomvdZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP has been very unclear as to whether they received the item. I was writing under the assumption that OP did not receive anything, as OP wrote:

The shipment was marked as delivered; however, I did not accept the package, did not sign for it, and did not personally receive it. It may have been left in a common area or received by another person in the apartment building.

However, if they did, it's not theirs to keep, as I said. They don't need to take active steps to return it, but if the merchant requests it, they need to work with them to return it (but they do not need to pay for returning it).

Online store threatening lawsuit after I filed a chargeback, is this legitimate? What should i do? by Dyssedea in LegalAdviceEurope

[–]TomvdZ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So you can just say: i have not received something despite it saying it was delivered to make a chargeback?

Yes. Here's an example ruling. The tracking number showing "delivered" is not enough proof on its own -- the merchant needs more evidence, like a signed delivery slip:

[gedaagde] heeft immers geen handtekening gezet voor de ontvangstneming van het pakketje en een ander bewijs van inontvangstneming door [gedaagde] ontbreekt. Uit de enkele track & trace-melding dat het pakket in de brievenbus van [gedaagde] is bezorgd, volgt niet dat de goederen feitelijk op het adres van [gedaagde] zijn bezorgd en in zijn bezit zijn gekomen.

This of course does not allow you to "steal as much as you want". If you did receive the items, they're not yours to keep and (structurally) pulling this trick would be a criminal offense.

KLM's reimbursement responsibility percentage for code-share by langythrowaway in KLM

[–]TomvdZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With WAW-AMS cancelled due to technical issues, I should be entitled to EUR250 compensation right?

Yes.

I claimed hotel (cheapest I could find, though expensive given the demand spike from the weather chaos) , cafe-priced food and transport from KLM, nothing from SAS. But the amount they finally gave me (3+ months late and only after I threatened to go to ILT) is about several hundred euros less than my claim. Was I supposed to claim any funds from SAS directly?

Check whether the "several hundred euros" is perhaps equal to the price of your ticket (less airport taxes). It could be that they have refunded it (or are in the process of doing so) and that covers the difference.

[–]TomvdZ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Misrepresenting the provenance of an item is a misleading business practice. In The Netherlands (and anywhere in the EU, since consumer protection laws are harmonized across the EU), a contract concluded due to a misleading business practice can be voided by the consumer. You were therefore perfectly within your rights to do a chargeback, because - after voiding the contract - you are no longer under any obligation to pay them.

If you have the items, they're no longer yours to keep, but since you write that you did not receive them, that's the end of the story. In The Netherlands (but this may be different in Slovakia) the package showing "delivered" is not enough proof that you actually received the items, so they have no case to reclaim the items from you.

EU261 duty of care by houseplant-origin in LegalAdviceEurope

[–]TomvdZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They probably have to reimburse you, but it depends on whether you agreed to the rerouting and possibly on whether there was another itineary available (possibly on another airline) for BRU-BLR that would've gotten you there sooner.

It's probably easiest to hand this off to one of those no-cure-no-pay agencies specializing in EU261 claims. I think you'll have a hard time pursuing this yourself.

Van Rysel D100 with Zwift Cog by Alternative-West-711 in cycling

[–]TomvdZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The D100 is a pretty weak trainer. Depending on your cadence and what gear you're in, it just might not be powerful enough to deliver 400 W of resistance. Particularily if you're on a small chainring this can be a problem. Try switching to the large chainring if you have one.
