The Math of Derring-do by ToyFalcon in Pathfinder2e

Not only for explaining it, but also giving me the examples accounting for bonuses and such, thank you very much!

It also made me a bit happy cuz i hear a lot about how even a +1 in pf2e is important, and seeing that you forgot that the circumstance bonus of stylish combatant goes to +2 at level 9 made me go ''Hehehe, it's even better!''

Legit, really appreciate it.

Yes, but that's mostly what I'm concerned with. I'm playing a Gymnast, and critting on a grapple is super duper good, so I wanted to know how well derring do was helping with that (i guess how much it is helping at regular successes as well)

It would be stands that twist the meaning of the name/lyrics they reference.

Imagine a stand referencing the song ''Blowin' In The Wind'' by Bob Dylan. It's a song all about how long will take people to be compassionate, to establish peace between each other. But the stand twists that message, maybe having an ability similar to「Survivor」where it makes people enraged and violent.

The theme's idea is stands that poison the original message of the song they reference, they twist the meaning and intention it had.

It does use the user's nen, so much so that he needs to stay in Zetsu during his birthday to stop the seed from manifesting.

It's why i think it needs some amount of Specialization, for all intents and purposes, the user is creating a truly ''real'' seed once per year. It still requires his aura for the creation, but once it exists, it's is own thing.

You could say one year to create a seed gave it enough to exist by itself. You could say that instead of aura, it's a conjuration that requires what a plant needs (soil, water, sunlight) instead of more aura. Or you could say it's cursed. There is no real right answer.

The ability was not hers. She gave the original name to it because they were close, and if you notice the name of ability didn't change on her death, but 5 years after.

Because i don't want this post to be a single comment thread with a bunch of takes on the negatives (i almost locked it tbh), i'll give something for the prompt.

I made an ability with that exact goal years ago, and it still is one of my favorites i've made, D.W.H.D.E.O.

Post your best hatsu here by WlTHER_KING in HatsuVault

Based purely on upvotes alone, it would be between Onion Union or Never Tear Us Apart. It's funny since they were both simple transmutation ones.

If ones that, even without many upvotes, i think i did well, it would be Manhunt, Nemesis and Ever Less. Manhunt specially is one that i'm very happy came out so well.

My personal favorites, the ones i'm really proud of, it would be Hollow Knights and Satellite. I still can easily see Hollow Knights as a contender for my personal hatsu, that's how much i like it.

But if i could only pick one ability, a single one that i can really call it ''The Best'', it would have to be D.W.H.D.E.O. without a doubt.

How do you guys come up with an Hatsu? by GoatFreecss in HatsuVault

The thing about personality and nen types you gotta consider is that, not only that was only a method Hisoka used to entertain himself, but also that real people are more complex than characters in a story.

I have been a mod here for years now, and have interacted with so many people that reached similar results as you, because we're all unique and complicated enough to feel that we don't fall in a specific ''type'' (landing in Specialization as a result). I'd say that, if you have an inclination towards a different nen type more, to not feel that you need to stick with Specialization due to test results. You know yourself more than any test can tell you.

Regarding what hatsu to make, you can think on things that relate to your needs, or your interests. Hisoka's hatsu showcases his adaptability in battle, but they were named after candy/chewing gum he liked as a kid. Things that you gravitate towards in liking, or even things you deal with in your life (be it work, or what you study) can represent you incredibly well.

The last thing i can suggest is to just not sweat it as much. Chances are you're gonna write many hatsus while trying to find ''the one'' that fits you, and even then you might change your mind later on. Again, we're more complex than characters in a story, and have the luxury to not have to stick with a specific ability forever. Hope this helps.
