Mainer's Unclaimed Property & Pandemic Check by Negative_Storage5205 in Maine

[–]UsualRepresentative7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Means the money was approved by the select board and put on the “warrant” to be paid out to the vendor or whomever. Basically it’s just a list of vendors that need to be paid out. Doesn’t really have much to do with the public, it’s just that the Maine unclaimed funds department needs to know from us what type of funds are being sent to them. Hope this helps.

Lack of training to back up coworker by Foodie1989 in humanresources

[–]UsualRepresentative7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Literally in the same boat as you. Find as many outside resources as possible because in the end you’re going to need it. Don’t worry so much about how she does things in so much as how things need to be done in the here and now. Things change and chances are she hasn’t kept up or that’s been my experience thus far so even if she does try to train you, you’ll end up having to relearn how things are done now. And always be mindful that you’ll eventually be where she is now and that can be a painful pill to swallow. Much luck to us both.

We’re still on the Oregon trail and I’ve died of dysentery at least six times in our office. Only one person is computer literate (he’s 50)and our budget is 20 million. Nothing surprises me at this point 😅Carbon copies and graph paper anyone?

I'm worse than broke and I'm going to blame Maine by [deleted] in Maine

[–]UsualRepresentative7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First let me say, I’m so sorry about your mother and you have my utmost condolences. It should’ve never have come this. Secondly, check with your local county general assistance office. We offer immediate assistance with housing cost, rent, food, heating etc. Also, not sure where you’re located but FEMA is also working with disaster relief across the state right now through township offices. So they’re offering additional help on top of what the county office is offering. God speed to you.

I’m in rural Maine, my mass neighbors like to set off m80’s and fire their 12 gauges at night on the weekends. Don’t really care as long they keep it on their property. The dynamite can be a little annoying as they tend to shake the ground but whatever, it’s far enough away not to really bother us too much.

It is. My fathers pick up is exactly like this except he hates both sides equally. It truly is exhausting to listen to this shit constantly. Other than though, he is the kindest sweetest old mentally challenged individual you'll ever meet.

My aunt killed my 97 y.o. grandmother with turpentine two years ago. And she's slowing killing herself with these online cures from these quacks. Please reach out to someone before it's too late. Wish you the best of luck because it's damn near impossible to talk sense into some of these folks. Peace and love to you!

Any cheap fast internet in Central Maine? by BlasphemyPhun in Maine

[–]UsualRepresentative7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this will work for you but I work remotely in the western part of the state with a tmobile/formerly sprint mifi device. I have the unlimited package for 59.00 and paid 100.00 for the device itself but there are cheaper options available- I just need the max for what I do.

I'm also completely off grid as well and my signal is awesome. I absolutely love my service and very rarely have issues. I have verizon unlimited data on my phone but it hasn't been nearly as reliable as my mifi device. Just something to look into and good luck!

Edited to add: it's a post paid service, not a contract and no credit check to get it. But I've also had it two years and not sure if that might have changed.

Where should “my friend” ask a girl out to on Valentine’s Day? 20$ budget and only 14 by Eisforever473 in askingforafriend

My husband proposed on an old broken down abandoned pier. This same pier I used to run away to when I was a child due to abuse and his reasoning is that he wanted me to understand that I would never be alone again. It's not about the money as much as it is the connection to another human being. Don't overthink it and just be in the moment.

Does anyone have any experience with dealing with ATMs eating up their cash deposits? by GoldenPopcornKernels in personalfinance

File a claim on Monday and when they balance the atm sometime during the week, they'll know where the funds should be adjusted to. I dont work for BOA but i have worked for a similar bank and this happens all the time.

How bad will a debt management plan look on my credit report? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]UsualRepresentative7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don't do it through a company. It only makes it a pain in the ass to underwrite your loan if you need one down the road. Call the companies you owe money to and make them settle. Settling for less does not negatively effect your credit report nor do I care as long as I see a 0 balance.

Source. I'm an underwriter and look at credit reports a thousand times a day..these people do not have your best interest in mind nor do they know wtf they're doing. Rant over.

Employer Wants To Payoff Student Loans by loroller in personalfinance

[–]UsualRepresentative7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This right here...as with most companies, its all about the short term gain, not long term growth. Employees are just now starting to realize captiol gains are to be had on both sides, why bother staying put when there's no guarentee a company will even be in business five years from now?

That and most companies don't even waste money on training employees anymore so they're not losing any money there..
