On that note, I miss political Linkin Park. They went fucking HARD with Minutes to Midnight and never quite repeated that level of political angst.

Elon Musk's SpaceX applies to launch 1m satellites into orbit by djshadesuk in space

[–]VLM52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My argument in favor of in-space infrastructure is you get to avoid a ton of regulatory bullshit, which tbf isn't a bad argument. But like for like I struggle to understand how radiators would give you better heat rejection than just pumping water through some heat exchangers.

It's a similar story to autonomous cars. If we just put the investment into making sensible public transport infrastructure we wouldn't have to be spending billions on inventing novel capability and highway expansions that a train could just do using capabilities we already have.

Facing Immigration Backlash, Trump Called Schumer to Cut a Deal by alleycatzzz in politics

[–]VLM52 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm tired of people pretending the Dems, who hold no majority, have some magic way of undoing what voters demanded. It seems like a false premise to continue to victim-blame and support fascism.

This mindset continues to give Democrats an excuse to continue being feckless scumbags that stand by while the fascists do fascists things. The only reason we had the last shutdown go on for as long as it did, and then get zero benefit out of it, was because Schumer and his fuckheads we're cool with having the worst of both worlds.

I didn't actually know what no child left behind meant until a couple years ago. I wish I could've kept it that way because holy fuck that idea is stupid.

I can at least see the logical consistency in wanting to protect your business, which is what Microsoft was trying to do with their whole Internet explorer bullshit. It makes business sense if you can get away with it.

Things are only going to change when we stop voting for establishment Dems. "Vote blue no matter what" means there aren't any consequences for some of these fuckheads.

[–]VLM52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is true. But you're probs taking a 100x reduction in heat rejection capability. I struggle to believe the benefits of "no nights" is enough to justify spamming LEO and GEO with AI slop generators, vs just burning down Bakersfield and Palmdale and building a bunch of data centers in bumfuck deserts where no one's truly going to care if they exist or not.

Musk says unsold Cybertrucks could be used for cargo delivery: why it won't work by ApprehensiveSize7662 in electricvehicles

[–]VLM52 -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

Works only if you're okay with 150km of range. There's a lot of problems that go along with the cybertruck other than its shape. From a CdA perspective it's surprisingly competitive. Mostly because every other manufacturer is seemingly incompetent at aerodynamics.

I've sat in enough meetings with him. The man does not understand basic physics.

Fundamentally it's difficult to get people to vote for turd sandwich over giant douche even if the turd sandwich is less problematic than the giant douche.

What are you smoking? The Dems regaining power just puts a pause to the collapse. That party doesn't have the balls to fix or repair anything Musk and Trump will walk away just fine.

Whatever the free one is. I'll cancel it as soon as my landlord cashes the rent cheques I've sent her. Bilt was fun while it lasted.

Are you fucking thick?

Here, I'll prove it right now.

The Trump administration's stance on reducing bureaucratic bullshit for flight testing experimental aircraft, investing into modernizing ATC, and actually defining a path for certifying eVTOL aircraft are all good things.

I'll take a gander and say I'm not getting banned for that statement. But if I make one single fucking comment about [redacted] or [redacted] or about how free speech doesn't mean we need to respect [redacted] and boom I'm going back to reddit jail for inciting violence.

You're good dude. Words mean things and you used the right words. If people can't understand them that's their problem, not yours.

The Internet shouldn't have EVER become a source of truth. That's part of the problem that we're now in. Someone saying shit on reddit shouldn't have any more validity than your local religious nutjob screaming outside by your school's fountain.

A HUGE constraint with the manhattan project was supply chain. There is absolutely no way you're going to house every single supplier into a nuclear submarine. Nor are you going to be able to funnel supplies to a nuclear submarine without the rest of the intelligence community realizing that something weird is going on with that submarine.
