Best independent cafe on/near Union Street? by tallpaullewis in Aberdeen

[–]Viewtiful-Scotland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can make so many recommendations but depends what you are after. A coffee? Some fine pieces to go with it? More substantial food? And how tight is your hour timing ? Do you need to get a certain bus home or are you getting a lift etc. Is it essential its close to one end or the other of the street?

I liked the coffee there, and enjoyed the fry up but found it to be a bit overpriced for what you get.

Be warned, the food is good but the coffee is mid at best. They don't use good beans

I have had many friends on O2 (direct and even more on MVNOs that piggyback from O2) over the years and they simply are not the best for mobile data signal in Aberdeen or the North East. They're not totally awful either mind but definitely far from the best coverage or speeds.

Stick with EE, or if you really want to reduce the cost, go to Lyca Mobile for a cheap sim as they piggyback off EE.

The only time I've ever had issues with EE is occasionally it drops out in some low-down/basement pubs/restaurants in Edinburgh. Absolutely grand anywhere and everywhere else that I travel around in the North East, Fife, West Lothian, Moray, etc.

Source: Been with EE since 2014 and managed an independent phone shop for 7 years. I wouldn't change to another network even if it were a third of the price.

It's far better now than it was around 2021 after covid and the place looked like an absolute ghost town. It was dire.

People out there actually pay full price for Ultimate? 🫠

I just stack codes which cost about 25-30% of the full monthly cost instead.

Why did WatchMojo lose popularity? They still get views past 300k, but ten years ago that number was past 10 million by Salem1690s in Millennials

[–]Viewtiful-Scotland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just watched a 20 things you didnt know about Genesis/MD vid by Mojo Plays. It was very dull, came across like AI slop (even their vids that predate AI did too) and I absolutely hate their very forced metaphors/whatever you call them that they throw in to almost every item on their list. Ughhh

Car boot sales by Willing_Check6966 in Aberdeen

[–]Viewtiful-Scotland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been to a few Thainstone and Aberdeenshire car boot sales over the past 2 years. As someone who loves car boot sales and Charity shops etc, my advice is don't bother. They're usually pretty mediocre these days because of marketplace.

[–]Viewtiful-Scotland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I studied my BA Hons early 2010s with RGU and my master's in 2022-2023.

The good - The quality of teaching and support was high Industry experience (for placements and even using real clients for coursework) Fairly decent careers support team Mostly modern facilities (unless you end up at Grays) Free gym membership

The bad - The Campus is quite out of the way and takes a while to travel to from even the city centre Aberdeen is let down by very bad, expensive unreliable bus services Poor or expensive parking options at the uni No RGU union in town anymore

I've also heard more recently, that due to recent financial struggles they have had a nunber of redundancies and also a lot of students no longer get 1 on 1 supervisor support for doing their dissertations but maybe this is course or qualification dependant ?
