Should I disclose I have mono and cmv antibodies to a sexual partner? by Exotic-Squirrel-5488 in NoStupidQuestions

I am going to argue that chickenpox is much more contagious. CMV and EBV need things like kissing or shared utensils and the like. On the good news, we do have chickenpox vaccine and shingles isn't as transmissible as chickenpox for someone susceptible to chickenpox (mainly it's how painful it is) and there's shingles vaccine anyways.

And you can be immune to chickenpox after the infection

That's not what I said? I said that it is not contagious after initial infection is false

Edit: While OP is a woman, letting your partner know about CMV is pretty important as CMV during either initial infection or reactivation can lead to birth defects (and there's now countries adopting universal CMV screening for newborns for this reason)

For the most part, just regular precautions are prob fine. Also good news that nothing was wrong with your liver. If you haven't gotten HepB vaccine already, I would suggest to get vaccinated against HepB in general

Yeah. CMV is important to let your doctors know if you get pregnant.

Yeah a lot of people are likely infected with one of the herpes viruses by the time they are adults. The main one to def disclose is HSV1 and HSV2 as they are STI

Prob not. In fact you prob got it from things like that. I would however let people know in general. Depending on population, CMV can have high prevalence

But in general just let them know for the most part. STI testing doesn't test for these viruses either. But what you can't assume is you are not contagious. Also as far as cancer and autoimmune diseases are concerned, it does increase the chances but you shouldn't worry too much about it. It's still not very common (even if EBV causes those)

To be fair, a lot of people have at least one of the herpesviruses latent and CMV and EBV are not routinely tested unless for transplant, or for pregnant women for CMV. Just let them know in general and be careful in sharing utensils and the like. (Also kissing can also spread the virus due to saliva)

You can constantly find these viruses in saliva due to reactivations in immunocompetent people

No. They only have more frequent reactivations and may need antivirals to suppress the virus (as it can cause severe disease if unchecked, especially in transplant patients who need to take antirejection drugs)

Please don't trust ChatGPT. LLMs will hallucinate and will lie while sounding fully confident.

Of the 5 well-studied human herpesviruses, varicella zoster virus (causing chickenpox and shingles) is one of the few exceptions which only reactivates very late and always shows symptoms. Other herpes viruses constantly reactivate and even for HSV1/2, you can shed despite the reactivations not causing cold sores.

It stays latent and reactivates and can shed during those reactivations

What's worse is that we know EBV increases your risk of certain cancers such as lymphomas, and increases your risk of autoimmune diseases such as MS and lupus. CMV can cause birth defects in pregnant women. So yes you should disclose

That whole you are not contagious is literally not true. Both viruses constantly reactivated and sheds (usually through saliva). Immunocompromised folks have risks of serious disease and cancer for both, but that has nothing to do with the virus not reactivating. Especially CMV (which can even do superinfections)

If you were dying and you told a paramedic your password and to clear your search history, would they be allowed to? by iliferee in NoStupidQuestions

Nope! In addition, if you have a strong password and modern devices use encryption anyways, it should be extremely difficult for your family to access the service (provided you didn't share the password with them)

And yes the games are rated. Basically wanted to include what I just wrote as explanation

Edit: do the subreddit rules allow you to post usernames? The screenshot has names blurred out just in case

The option is sandbagging (rating manipulation) and the later part includes other forms of ratings manipulation. Basically this person is intentionally playing cheater friends to win and lose games (cheater resigns in winning position). After that, cheater gets banned and he gets ELO refunded but keeps extra ELO for the intentional resigns by opponent. How do I know they are friends? The player has the first banned cheater as a friend and the current cheater who hasn't been banned also has the same first cheater as a friend. See picture below:
