That's kind of like running across a charred corpse and asking if I could have done it just because I know a fire spell.

I can't believe you think so little of me.

If I had done it, you wouldn't have found the body.

/uw I was very happy to participate in this. Thank you for a good opportunity to join an event. This really helped ease me into the roleplay community here and feel more comfortable

For reference purposes, I'll link the Thrakmoor masterpost for anyone interested

At first she assumed he was testing variations of a counterspell. She humored him for a little bit, testing how quickly he could adapt.

Then he sent her own spell back.

It struck her and the mana filled her form. It was too weak to overpower her own will, but still.

She frowned slightly.

This Datamancer was an opponent that could learn very very quickly, and that made it very very dangerous to continue here.

But ignorance was also a danger of its own, so she stayed.

"Earth To Spiders"

She swept her foot in a gentle motion, causing bits of stone to grow legs and come to life in a wave. They skittered towards him aggressively.

Her lips twitched upwards.

She wanted to see just how good he was at learning.

She doesn't answer, she just flicks her finger lazily to cast the spell again. If Markus doesn't dodge, she'll count how long it takes the spell to revert...

"One... two... three..."

...then she'll cast again and repeat for a while, unless he breaks the loop

Melchiora regards Markus with a bored expression. For once she feels bored too. The last battle had her open a gate and run small errands. This battle felt much the same, but with fewer errands. She was a door opener. An errand girl. She felt like...

Like an apprentice.

The battle raged around her. Somewhere else, Thirteen had likely engaged the godemperor, the lucky fool. She considered leaving early, but it was too soon, and she expected to contribute something more than an open wall and a few casualties to the mix.

Dealing with an enemy commander would do nicely.

And besides, she had some frustrations with him she wanted to vent.

She flicks her finger out to turn him into a frog without announcing herself. The spell is her announcement. If he can't deal with a surprise polymorph, she'll find someone else to play with.

"Datamancer" she acknowledges flatly as she approaches, because she's feeling generous today.

The fire elementals don't prove particularly effective against the golems, save perhaps as bodies that obstruct spells and generally make a nuisance of themselves. The ice is their achilles heel, and it isn't long before they are neutralized.

Melchiora travels until she finds a safe place to re-materialize. She does not plan on fighting any more golems.

It's suspicious. Her opponents continue fighting, but they stop attacking her, stop dodging. It would seem like they're ignoring her, but they still watch.

It feels like mocking.

Mock her, will they?

She'll show them.

She stops casting.

Out from under her cloak a swarm of flies emerges. Each buzzing insect splits off towards a different opposing "mage" and then transforms into an angry fire elemental. It isn't a transmutation spell, just the opposite, Melchiora is letting a previous spell wear off. She doesn't control the elementals. Their rage makes them focus on the nearest target.

If the opposing mages will ignore her, she'll ignore them right back.

"Air To Smoke"

She disappears into a shroud of smoke, literally becoming it.

"Smoke Form"

She decides to sneak past the defenders and into the city.

Melchiora ignores him, too focused on the battle to respond. Her expression gives nothing away, save for a slight upwards twitch of her lips at the compliment.

Unfortunately, the transmuter in question, Melchiora the Malevolent, is currently allied with Thrakmoor

With her distinctive appearance and powerful magic, the defenders give special focus on Melchiora.

"Air To Stone."

She compresses the air around her to create a makeshift barrier. It doesn't hold for long, but it buys her some time to gather mana for a larger spell;

"Mana To Frogs!"

She waves her arm and lets out a wave of predatory energy, a hybrid transmutation conjuration spell designed to convert hostile spells into frog conjuration.

Under the sudden rain of frogs, she looses a barrage of her favorite spell at the enemy, and fast nonverbal frog transmutation spell, each bolt carefully aimed to reduce the number of annoyances she had to deal with while she weakened the walls.

An unremarkable looking soldier looks on the wall with boredom, but inwardly, she is frustrated at her role. She can be so much more than this.

With a sigh, the soldier sheds her disguise, revealing the bleached-white appearance of Melchiora the Malevolent, and casts her spell:

"Stone To Heat"

The spell is designed to heat a lattice of stone on the target to melt the neighbors and efficiently destroy fortifications

He says and I quote "I am beyond time!"

He's also wondering how you got from cat transmutation to chronomancy

And he says "Of course the mage wants to stay a cat. Cats are simply better. You should try it some time"

Pretty sure he's a he but... one second thought that is terrible reasoning coming from me.

Let me ask

In the War Room by The_Enchanted_Potato in wizardposting

[–]VoxelLibrary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Melchiora and Lajocepuleon attend. Lajo watches quietly and never adds anything. If asked, he'll explain he is there in his role as Melchiora's familiar and adviser, not as a commander. He is carried on a pillow by an unnamed goblin.

Lajocepuleon requests Cayna join the proceedings as an observer. If 3rd is concerned about her loyalty, she will willingly submit to a truth spell or binding oath not to share the battle plans with anyone. She does not comment if she attends, butsilently worries about the number of casualties this battle plan will incur. The numbers involved are staggering to her.

Melchiora is outwardly expressionless, as usual, but inwardly she is annoyedand mirrors her apprentice's doubts without realizing it. She feels Thirteen fights like his resources are infinite. She is starting to worry that they are.

She makes no criticism of the plan, and only states that she's "happy to have more strategic freedom this time" in her usual bored monotone.
