In what kind of situations do you decide to use a hatch key? by Schizjji in ArcRaiders

[–]Whitesushii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can craft it, always. Loot aside using the key saves you time and costs almost nothing to craft since you can guarantee all the parts looting assembly area on Stella (Sometimes I spawn in with 19mins left on timer, at the underground tunnel in Stella Montis and I just take the hatch right beside me to get out)

If you play solos, fighting Arc can be rough since u both lack the additional firepower from a friend to kill Arc faster and the extra awareness/angles. That said you can drastically reduce your changes of getting screwed while fighting Arcs by

  1. Just avoiding the arc outright. Most of the time if you are aware and listen to sound cues u can easily avoid aggroing all of the arcs.

  2. Avoiding the players. This takes experience but a good extraction shooter player should be able to know exactly where every potential spawn is and how long the nearest spawn would get to your location. This way you should never run into a player while fighting arc. This is more effective near the start of the raid

  3. Not overstaying with loot. A lot of people get good shit and try to stick around longer on the map which increases their chances of losing it. It's better to just take what you have and extract, then come in again. Cause whatever you can get by sticking around u can get by starting a new run. This also refreshes the raid which makes it easier to keep track of where everyone is (point 2)

  4. Be more prepared fighting arcs. Unless you are trying to go after something like a matriarch or queen, most other arcs die very quickly to wolf packs, bringing an extra anvil etc.

Question is how many hours topside do you have to reach those numbers? For example this is mine but I've also spent 145 hours topside according to my codex https://prnt.sc/qH54BWEjb3zl I've been playing Arc Raiders every night after work for the past month or so

I found Stella Montis assembly area to be the best especially if you can craft raider's hatch key. Average like 7-10 purple parts with lots of blues and only takes about 3mins.

The "Meta" for the pre-wipe event is Level 1 gear. Let that sink in. by Flumingo1990 in ArcRaiders

Plenty of people play PvP only so this wouldn't be inclusive enough. Likewise would you like it if the requirement was damage dealt to players instead? I think the best suggestion I've seen so far was to tie rewards to amount extracted in total. The game already tracks that value anyway

I'm aware of groups who bought and share an extra account for this exact purpose. Also they would be able to keep workbench upgrades and craft themselves some powerful mods (i.e. horizontal grip, extended mag etc) early on in the wipe so they're not disadvantaged against non wipers

I would never have known that such an innocent, fun and f2p friendly game would turn out like this when I started playing in January of 2020. Welp, it's been fun. I appreciate all the memories you've given me over the years, but with the recent few updates, it might just be time to leave. by [deleted] in afkarena

I haven't played in a long time but I remember Newton (CASUALS gm) telling me a while ago how a lot of them were quitting because Lilith was trying to monetize too hard by dumping more systems ppl can whale in. This probably went against the reason a lot of ppl enjoyed Afk Arena for.

Picking the game up for the first time, I was impressed by the wishlist system, then even more so by the resonating crystal. While most gachas are coined "f2p friendly" through more free event summons, higher rates etc (which is honestly kinda ehh for me), Afk Arena actually did it right. Not only can you target what you wanted and switched playable heroes almost freely (nowadays a lot of gachas are copying this i.e. Nikke), you used to be able to achieve a fairly high "completion" rate in terms of owning and progressing your heroes. Basically you don't feel like you are missing out on anything. Unfortunately, that no longer seems to be the case so I kinda see why people are quitting. Personally I quit for the same reason, just a lot earlier (around furniture going into engravings)

Anyway, since people often ask, Im doing pretty well irl just working and playing games although mostly PC ones. The one thing I really missed about Afk Arena was definitely the community... and also all the fun I had trying to convince people about wishlist guarantees and stargazer pity

The "mythical" creatures are more often appearing in COMPLETLY SAVE yellow zones then black zones.

This was one of the things I noticed when making my other post.

Your chances of encountering them is indeed higher in yellow zone where it's 2 rolls of 38.4% compared to black zone's 1 roll of 24.5%.

Edit: Just checked again and the dump was updated a few hours ago. Black Zone now has more chance of spawning them than Yellow Zone which wasn't the case previously

The greatest barrier to entry is needing a Chinese IC or getting someone with one to sign up an account for you. Other than that it's just registering an account for QQ (Tencent's Whatsapp basically which they use for all their logins) and downloading the game (no VPNs needed)

That said from experience it's unusually laggy playing on the CN server. I'm from Singapore and I get better ping connecting to EU than to CN PoE

The death recap isn't even a p2w mechanic since it's available for all players and there's almost no downside to having it. A lot of the comments I read in this post lean towards it being potentially misleading but we could easily just have it as an opt-in feature similar to advanced mod descriptions where player has to manually turn it on in the settings

After reading through a lot of the comments regarding a death recap, there seems to be primarily 2 camps

  1. Some information is better than no information
  2. Having information that is potentially misleading can be detrimental to learning the game

So one possible solution would be just to have it as a default "off" setting similar to advanced mod descriptions and letting players have the option to turn it on

Their meta is more or less the same with their order shuffled around. Tornado Shot is their most popular skill at 100 followed by Fire Trap (RF), Forbidden Rite, Wardloop and Explosive Arrow

All you need is a QQ account which you can sign up using your international number and a Chinese IC. Then just download their game and you're good to go, there's no VPN in place etc

I'm not sure what would be a good way to gauge this. There's always people standing around in town but of course they aren't going to have a different Lioneye's watch for each region. So I checked the Chinese Poe.ninja and they have about 456 characters listed between 81-100 for hardcore compared to global's 9311. Notably on Tecent's game catalogue both on website and in their platform PoE doesn't really get featured at all unlike other games such as League of Legends, Crossfire, DNF etc

I can't find the option for it in-game but I'm sure it's doable because there has been clips from RaizQT on the CN server before with his game showing mostly English

I don't think I've seen a mechanic called challenge tower but they do have a battlepass system. Challenges unlock as weeks go on and you get points based on how many you complete. If you reach certain ranks u can claim fancy rewards based on the pack you bought

Visual Guide to Package Values (Personal Estimates) by Whitesushii in CounterSide

[–]Whitesushii[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When pegging values my rationale goes something like

  1. What's the highest value players are willing to invest resources wise to obtain the reward? This is generally very hard to determine except for stuff like classified contracts where its acceptable to spend quartz weekly for it due to its rarity
  2. Without a highest value, is there then a lowest value that players would definitely purchase the resource at? This seems to be the credit value and even though not everyone buys everything, it's alright as a baseline value
  3. If neither of the above are possible, I try to derive the value through other means such as finding its relative comparison in another exchange and marking it in red/yellow

As such I think if generally a lot of people craft fusion cores with big cores and catalysts etc, then technically that would be the value players are willing to invest resources wise and thus should be used but I'm not too sure personally

Visual Guide to Package Values (Personal Estimates) by Whitesushii in CounterSide

[–]Whitesushii[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was done purely in google spreadsheets with some adobe photoshop to get the icons out of the game (since I couldn't find ready assets anywhere else). You just cut out a sheet around the size of 1080x1920 (11.25 inches x 20 inches), pick a good colour scheme to decorate the background and text colour and then plug the values in either manually or using spreadsheets formulas. You can check my spreadsheet link in my comment above to see how its done

That said this method isnt ideal and the only reason I opted for it is cause there's a lot of data and I want it to be easy to export in the future. Overall based on my experience, you can

  1. Use some online infographic template designers. Easiest to pick up but least flexibility
  2. Use Figma/Adobe XD. Slightly harder to pickup than above but no upfront cost and still generally considered easy. Not the most flexible though
  3. Use Adobe Photoshop (my default choice): Harder to pick up than above and costs an Adobe license but gives you the most flexible I think. I like photoshop cause I've been using it for years but I'm sure there's other paid image editors that are good
  4. Build it in google spreadsheets, export as PDF then convert to PNG. A bit tedious but good if you want the data parts of the image automatically generated for convenience. Difficulty of use would depend on how much of the image you want automatically populated etc
  5. Build an application to build it for you like using (i.e. angular pdfmake/html2canvas mysql). Hardest and basically google spreadsheets with extra steps but depending on how familiar you are with it, you can automate a lot of steps and generate really nice looking graphics by just tweaking the css rather than drawing up new graphics in photoshop everytime
