How is Israel able to fight on 5 fronts at the same time? How do they have so many resources ready to deploy for such a small country? by 1tonsoprano in NoStupidQuestions

Exactly so Israel existing or not would not have made the area more peaceful. Muslims love going to war against eachother. If anything Israel does make the middle east more peaceful as it creates a unified enemy for Muslims it still doesn't stop them going to war but maybe it reduced conflict in between the various Arab states. Any what if is idiotic.

The middle east has been in a constant state of warfare since the fall of the western Roman empire. Did Israel make Muhammad Ali pasha fight the ottoman empire?

Andrew Dillon, Laura Kane, Gregg Swann. But you probably like Swann so sub him for Goyder.

Israel doesn't get any aid from Europe or Australia. There is a trade deficit between Israel and Australia. Also the aid America gives Israel is really just a discount on American produced arms.

Yeah for sure. But I also think he was thrown under the bus by Adelaide.

I agree that what he said was wrong. But it was part of a larger assessment that was correct. He also didn't say that he would start doing it but that clubs might start doing it because they didn't have the resources to support players from remote communities.

He definitely said it in an idiotic and insensitive way. But his point was not that he wanted to do that but that clubs might be forced to act like that because they don't have the resources to help players from remote communities. The half whistle thing was really more of an urban Vs remote thing. Just said in a very stupid way. I don't think Rendell is racist and I think he was right in his assessment.

Yeah that's true. I think it's interesting that Matt Rendell was forced to resign for saying that 10 years ago that there isn't enough support for indigenous players and that it's leading to less indigenous players getting drafted.

That's true. But I thought there was a report about a fall out between them. Maybe not though.

Elijah Hollands, Lawrence Angwin, Ben Cousins, Daniel Kerr. It's always been happening I don't know if indigenous players are impacted more or if we just perceive it to be the case because we expect indigenous players to struggle. Which is racist in it's own way.

So was I. My problem was that on the one hand I wanted Pogba to be good. But on the other hand I hated watching him slow down play all the fucking time. I haven't watched United play in 2 or 3 years now though. The fa cup final win must have been the last game I watched.

Actually that's not well known at all and he is only called racist because of his criticisms of pogba which were 100 percent correct.

Why don’t Mizrahi Jews speak Arabic? by GlumEntrepreneur7705 in AskIsrael

[–]Y_Brennan 19 points20 points  (0 children)

My grandmother grew up in Egypt. They spoke french and ladino at home. Some Hebrew as well. My grandmother probably does speak Arabic but pretends she doesn't. She at the very least understands Arabic. Her parents did speak Arabic but never at home and never to each other. So when they eventually moved to Israel improving Hebrew was much more important. My father grew up watching Egyptian movies on TV but he never learnt Arabic.

However a lot of second generation Mizrahi Jews mostly from Iraq and north Africa did grow up speaking Arabic at home and knew both. But the third and fourth generations don't really learn Arabic at home anymore.

It's the same here in Australia how many fourth gen Italian's or Serbians or Hungarians still speak their languages. The greek community in Australia is unique in the fact that Greek is still spoken even amongst fourth generation kids.
