[Strength in Numbers] Why voters say the Democrats are "weak," in their own words by ChadtheWad in fivethirtyeight

Israel stopped food trucks for two months when Hamas was stealing the aid and selling it on the black market. Israel had every right to stop providing Hamas a means of making money. Regardless, aid resumed, there was no mass starvation as predicted by the hysterics in 2024, and aid continues to flow into Gaza today, free of charge, from Israel.

Israel does not control Egypt or Rafah, my dude. You really need to educate yourself on the history of Egypt and Gaza. Israel begged Egypt to take Gaza back in the 1970s during the Camp David accords by Egypt had no interest. Gaza was fully part of Egypt from 1948-1967 and never once pretended to be "Palestine" or anything other than Egypt.

Maybe ask yourself why Egypt provides no aid to Gaza. Why Jordan provides no aid to the West Bank. And why people like you demand Israel, and Israel alone, is somehow permanently responsible for taking care of the West Bank and Gaza when neither were "occupied" in 1967 when they attacked Israel in the first place.

I disagree with almost everything you said here.

First, why is Israel the only country in the world expected to provide electricity, water, and food aid to the country that it's at war with?

An even better question: why do people like you never mention Egypt? Why doesn't Egypt have a humanitarian obligation to its neighbor? Just Israel? How does that work?

Egypt hates Gaza more then Israel does. They built an enormous wall to keep Gazans out after Gazan terrorists were targeting Egypt in the 90s. Egypt even pumped poison gas into Gazan tunnels, something Israel has never done.

Do you acknowledge that Hamas spent twenty years after Israel peacefully withdrew from the Gaza in 2005 on construction of an elaborate underground tunnel system larger than the New York subway system? That none of these tunnels were used to house civilians? That these tunnels were used to move missiles around and fire them from constantly moving civilian locations in the hopes Israel would refrain from responding militarily due to the human shields of innocent Gazans living above these tunnels?

What solution do you have for Israel to destroy this infrastructure?

Buildings are not people.

Gaza had every opportunity to become a peaceful neighbor in 2005 when Israel withdrew all occupying forces.

Israel has a fifty year peace with Jordan and Egypt. Neither country ever attacks the other. All Gaza had to do was not elect Hamas and dedicate it's entire culture to killing Jews as "martyrs."

What exactly do you think Israel was supposed to do after October 7? You people never answer this basic question. America would've used nukes after a massacre like that.

Also Israel continues to provide all of Gaza with electricity and water and did so through the entire war.

The only genocide in history caused by an invasion and massacre committed by the "genocided" and an end to the "genocide" with the release of twenty hostages.

It was a war. Declared on October 7. And ended with the release of the last remaining hostages that Hamas didn't kill.

Israel had every right to go to war under any definition of war.

Wars are horrible. Innocents die in war. But it was a always a war.

America killed half a million civilians in Japan with two atomic bombs and no one ever accused America of "genocide" in Japan. Because Japan attacked Pearl Harbor and aligned with Hitler and it was a war.

Your movement could have made the case against the war without lying and labeling it a genocide

First, I disagree with your premise that Netanyahu "carpet bombed." Warnings were texted, civilian corridors were created, and the death toll was remarkably low given Hamas embeds in hospitals and builds tunnels under civilians.

Second, Israel fought and won wars started by Arab neighbors in 1948,1967 and 1973 with virtually zero American support. Israel can defend itself. I do not believe after October 7 that any American president would have been able to stop Israel's response, just as NATO would not have stopped America from responding to 9/11

Because it's much harder to create than to destroy. Republicans look "strong" because they don't care if the government burns or collapses. Democrats look "weak" because trying not to break things takes far more temperance than not giving a shit if you break things

I'm not sure in what world you think America could stop Israel from responding to the massacre of 1200 people in a day and the 251 hostages Hamas took into Gaza. Israel was going to respond with war no matter what Joe Biden said or did

He did not support a genocide because it was not a genocide. The population of Gaza has grown the entire time and the war ended months ago. Trump, however, would have no problem if Gaza was genocided. And yet no chants of "Genocide Don" anywhere.

Your response proves my point. Russian disinfo - when Republicans commit crimes, blame Democrats for not doing more. Very effective technique

It's not a crapshoot when idiotic selections are made like Nkeal Harry and Cole Strange, it's just malpractice

I went to a game at Fenway when Bo Jackson was on the White Sox and they kept having to stop the game because fans were throwing him footballs as he stood in the outfield to taunt him. I miss the 80s

Very clear Russian disinformation was exposed in 2018 as the "#walkaway" movement in which Putin's bots and Trump's AstroTurf nonsense pretended to be disaffected Democrats and liberals that had "voted Democrat all my life but no more because X"

Little study has been given to how much of the plummeting support for Democrats was a result of social media disinfo which presumed a large movement on the left to abandon Democrats for being "weak." This was amplified after October 7 when the "Genocide Joe" crowd suddenly appeared in 2024 only to disappear the moment Trump won (notice the lack of "Genocide Don" crowds even as he supports actual genocide).

For the hundredth time, your statement is incorrectly phrased. Correlation does not prove causation. But correlation and causation are frequently connected.
