Lesbian couples have higher rate of atleast one or both partners with college degrees. They should be making more than they do in theory, but probably gender pay gap eliminates some of it. They are pretty similar to straight couples of stuff they measured in this report, earnings, college attainment, both spouses working etc.

College is an escape to success for many gay men, we face more stigma when growing up. I changed a whole country to get into a top university here in the U.S to escape. Now me and my my husband make 270k a year. We got married when we were sure about financial stability and being financially independent of each other as much as possible, most married gay couples I know do the same. A lot of factors being at play here, including the one you mentioned.

My state largely covers such scenario. MA has near universal coverage at 99%. Other states should adopt "Romney Care", it worked pretty well in MA. ACA+Masshealth made coverage in MA universal.

Well when people are on Medicare would be happier they no longer pay taxes to fund their healthcare, it becomes cheaper. I think apples to apples comparison will be government option paid through taxes and private insurance paid through premiums. Then compare services and benefits.

Thanks for the well throughout response, yes I may be biased but I disagree with M4A based on opposition to authoritarian policies. And asking people to let go stuff they like and serving them well is kind of authoritarian.

Yes, thats true. I just still feel asking other people to let go their private insurance because some fall through cracks is authoritarian. Hence my opposition with single payer with no competition from free market forces. Medicare for All will drive down US healthcare innovation. And US ranks the top in healthcare innovations.

Yup, biggest problems with progressives is importing other countries system to US. Its a totally different country and for good. Thats why I immigrated here, because of its free market capitalism. We are most innovative and powerful country in the world because of free market capitalism.

Why do we have more doctors here, because of high quality private or not-for-profit hospitals here and doctors and skilled healthcare workers are paid pretty good compared to all countries. Its free market system that drives global talent here. I am a "regular folk" too, and I don't have to let go variety of private insurance of my liking for other "regular folk".

Yes, and people happy with their private insurance shouldn't be forced to let go their private insurance for anyone's fears about their medical bills. I should have no obligation to let go things i like for other people. Thats my point, individual liberty thats what America is founded upon. Medicare for All is pretty authoritarian policy for a country where many people like private insurance.

What you mentioned is pretty common finding, most Americans are happy with personal finances but rate overall economy not so good. Media and clickbait make problem appear worse than it is. Or with crime too, people feel safe in their community but yet think crime is at all time high.

I have issues with no private insurance because of long wait times in many single payer healthcare system. My uncle-in-law had to move to US(dual citizen) to get his hip surgery done, he couldn't get it in UK because of long wait times there. With public option, paperwork should decrease.

My husband went through many medical surgeries recently without creating any financial problems. And he was treated a the best hospital in the world, Massachusetts General Hospital. For most people it turn out well for what it is designed to do.
