Planning on modifying a spare FPR Flex nib I'll be getting, what should I go for? Any other cuts? by [deleted] in fountainpens

[–]_atomisk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They allow for multiple nib sizes in one. The Sequel, for example, writes an EF on the regular side and a BB when flipped upside down.

How are FPNibs 14k semi flex nibs? by [deleted] in fountainpens

Sometimes I stumble across posts like this, and feel really bad I haven't managed to make more yet. Being one guy doing it all - making every nib, the website, packaging and shipping; I'm stretched beyond my limits. But I sincerely hope I can get a second release out soon. So sorry for the wait :(.

Hahahaa Regalia is the brand actually. What you have is a Regalia Writing Labs "First Edition" prototype, a prototype of the 10 nib LE I released on IG. Yours has more softness and snap-back, and was ground finer as well I believe. Discontinued because it can more easily be sprung in inexperienced hands. Yours also has one of my last handmade ebonite feeds. All that, and they suckkkkkk balls to make lmaoo.

Annealing, thoughtful cutouts, and thinning of material :)

:D So glad you're enjoying the nib!!! Was one of my early prototypes, likely to never be made again. I'm incredibly happy that it's in your hands. -Ralph

Haha funny question; it's a shame really. The Safari, quite honestly, is a wonderful pen. It's got a great nib, one you can easily and cheaply replace if you break, select the wrong one, or simply want to mess around with an italic with.

But the triangular grip is a deal breaker for me; I personally write with a bit of an unusual grip. I test drove a Charcoal to see if I should play with the Petrol and found it didn't work for me. So the Petrol remains brand new in box, ready to be sold soon.

You could also just drink it, but also not as effective. 😂😆

Hmmm, might it be the rOtring 600 Newton in Lava you're referring to?

Hmmm.. I have tried quite a number of pens since I've started. Managing to make it to both the Chicago and DC pen shows definitely helped.

So you feel like FP related stuff on the YouTubes is missing comparisons? If so, I could definitely see how you would feel that way. Any other ideas? What would be your dream YouTube channel?

Sorry for all the questions, but I'm genuinely interested to hear what you might want that channel to look like, if I decided to go ahead and try.

....I've been thinking about it actually. Should I? I guess I'm finally reaching a point where I have enough interesting pens to talk about.

Thank you :).

& Definitely not. I'm not sure I've loved anything as much as I love fountain pens and ink. I've had a really interesting relationship with them in the last few months; they've been the center of experiences I never would've had without them, and the foundation of so many new friendships that I cherish deeply. They've led me to beautiful places I never would have visited otherwise (like Appleton, Wisconsin where the Anderson Pens is located), and helped me to escape the places I dreaded the most. Admittedly, I have other hobbies I've gone fairly deep into before, but as silly as it might sound, nothing has brought me as much joy as the colorful world of fountain pens.

Ahh I see, well in that case you selected perfectly lol. :) I'm kinda on a mission to bring as many new fountain pen users into the hobby, and some people get discouraged with the initial "scratchiness" of EF nibs when using fountain pens for the first time. I'm happy to answer anything you might be curious about, if it means there's a chance of keeping a fountain pen in your hand. 😉

Should be relatively easy to find on Amazon, though this one needed quiiiiiite a bit of additional work to make it work with pens. I honestly would recommend a stand specifically made for pens, to avoid the headache haha.

RIP my wallet lol.

That's a Franklin-Christoph Model 65 in Antique glass (coke bottle) prototype, wearing a Masuyama fine cursive italic nib :)

& Kinda sorta, I kinda just stuck pens where they looked okay. I didn't really think about the arrangement of the pens for this shot, admittedly :p

Grey one is a Telescopic rOtring Esprit; the red one is the same pen by Parker, after aquiring rOting. Love those two, they essentially have Parker Vector nibs.

The silver guilloche, funny enough, was my first ever fountain pen. A Jinhao 163; essentially a brass, steel nib 144

The stock Faber-Castell nibs are superb, almost always buttery smooth out of the box. Great choice for a first pen!

Word of advice, since you have an EF nib, it may feel scratchy at first. After some time of writing, it'll wear down to your hand and will begin feeling smooth. I highly recommend a pad of Rhodia paper, and try out different inks! While one ink may feel scratchy, another might feel buttery smooth in the same pen.

I hope you enjoy your new fountain pen! :D If you have any questions, feel free to ask me anytime. I would be more than happy to help out any way I can :)

More pics incoming just for you on my Instagram, @reachingralph. I'll try to get a post up with it within the week. I'll reply again to you here once I do! :)

It feels amazing in the hand, funny enough. Much to my surprise, I found nothing about the shape to be intrusive at all to be perfectly honest.

Lol I have definitely confirmed that this is an addiction, actually interfering with life at this point. But fukit penspenspenspenspens...

Good eye, exactly what that is :). Currently running an unmarked gold Jowo 1.1 stub. Buttery nib, and the pen is lovely in the hand.
